Runner Gratitude - Hill Workouts

Hill workouts are a key part of runner training because running up and down hills works different muscles than does running on "flats" (level surfaces). And this variety leads to a runner who is well-rounded and is better capable of running in races whose courses have hills.

hillsdale furniture

Some hill workouts are what you might call "natural" because they occur on terrain that has not been touched by humans -- such as a hill or a mountain. Some hill workouts are what you might call "semi-natural" because they occur on natural surfaces that have been moulded by humans -- such as a grassy slope that leads from a bayou up to a street. Some hill workouts are what you might call "man-made" because they occur on surfaces constructed by humans -- such as the ramps of a parking structure. And some hill workouts are what you might call "virtual" because they occur on treadmills.

HILL

If you are a runner who has already incorporated hill workouts into your training schedule, then you can use the Law of Attraction to maintain your hill-workout participation. If you are a runner who has not yet included hill workouts in your training schedule, then you can use the Law of Attraction to "draw" hill workouts into your training schedule.

Either way, there is a simple, two-step technique for doing this:

Simply make a list of statements of gratitude for hill workouts. Regularly review that list, pausing on each statement to feel the positive emotions associated with that statement.

Many people have more trouble with step #1 than with step #2. So here is an example list of statements of gratitude for this kind of workout.

I am truly grateful that I can run up and down hills. I am in awe of the human body's ability to accommodate sloped surfaces. I am thankful that these workouts help me to build strength and endurance in different ways than do workouts on level surfaces (running on flats). I love how these workouts prepare me for hilly races. I appreciate how these workouts help me to improve my sense of footing and my sense of balance. I enjoy the fact that this kind of workout teaches me well to breathe in a more relaxed way. I am truly grateful that I can quickly increase my heart rate by running up and down hills.

Before you make a daily or weekly appointment with yourself to read and dwell on this list, make this list more powerful by editing statements, deleting statements, or adding your own statements!

Believing the Truth

The Day we start believing the truth, is the day we start to grow. Children in School are taught the basics of education, what we call the three R's. They believe what they are taught, and learn how to read, write, and calculate numbers.

The problem arises when it comes to teaching the religious part of life. Without knowing the truth many will, and are, falling, trapped in the pit of ignorance of the truth. The family unit has fallen in disarray, and confusion. Many children are turning against their parents, and parents are turning against their children.

ROM BEDS

In these last days we have brought forth a generation of children that are lost without the truth within them, these children have turned to drug use, homosexuality, and all manner of debauchery, and sin.

Children having children, the welfare system is over loaded, the males are not taking responsibility for the baby's being born to them, and many new baby's are dieing by the thousands of disease, and hunger.

This generation knows about Moses and Jesus, but they don't know them. These two people are just fairy tales to them, without true meaning, for they haven't been taught, they haven't been warned, or they just don't believe. So then, what is the truth?

Here we see the difference between Moses, and Christ in John 1:17; "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."
The law was given by Moses, and this generation knows law.

The do nots of the Ten Commandments, are in knowledge of every human being upon this earth. Even those that do not believe in Christ, honor, most of the Commandments set down by God to the Israelites.

What this generation doesn't know, is that if you do not steal but commit adultery, you are guilty of all the law.

For there is no one law that is greater than another. Speaking spiritually, God sees no difference between a lier and an adulterer, a thief and a rapist, nor a bragger and a murderer.
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? (Rom 2:20-23.)

John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, "What is truth?..."
What is truth?

Truth is the ability to believe without seeing, feeling without being felt, and hearing without verbal communication.

The Truth is, in God, and no other. The truth is, that we are property of the Most High. The truth is, we are living on a planet, in space, suspended by nothing.
The Truth is, that we all are in need of salvation, for the actual truth is, that this world is coming to and end.
Will you believe the truth if you are told?

But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? (Rom 3:5-7.)
Webster tells us that Truth is; "Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be."

The truth of God, is his veracity and faithfulness.
To do truth, is to practice what God commands. (John 3.)
Websters definition; "Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be."
1.Exact accordance with that which is, and was.
For Our God was, and still is, from everlasting to everlasting.
There was truth before there was a universe, the planets, and the sky.
There was truth before the animals of the field, and the birds in the sky existed, there was truth, before man.

We don't see all things about God from the New Testament, no, we must also look at the truth, from the beginning of the creation. Have you ever wondered how old God is, What about Satan? God is not old, nor young, for He is Spirit, He had no beginning, and will have no end. On the other hand, Satan was created in a space, and time, of Gods choosing. He can be given a date of creation, not countable by man, but by God.

This fact shows another weakness of the deceiver.
Here is a question that many ask, but very seldom receive an answer.
If God created Satan, didn't He also create sin?
No. For Satan(Light Giver.) was a free spirit and created all manner of sin. There-fore he fell from righteousness, and was ejected from Heaven. Since God cannot sin, it was, and still is, impossible for God, to create any manner of sin nor unrighteousness.
The truth comes from a doctrine, not written by man, but by the Holy Spirit of God. We have been introduced by doctrines of many kind all of our lives. This is the reason that there is so much confusion on what the truth is. Confusion brings about the lack of clear thought, the lack of being able to choose the rights, and wrongs, of doctrine.

Act 17:19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
The truth is sometimes hard to accept. This upsets the mind, and body, causing a rejection of the truth. Why?
For it is written that; "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." (Gal 5:17.) The things that bring pleasure to the flesh may be harmful to the spirit. For adultery may bring pleasure to the flesh, but it condemns the soul. But for a couple that are married, there is no defilement of their bed.
Your mind controls the body, and the spirit controls the mind. Now, if the mind takes control of the body, and spirit, you can have two outcomes.

If the Spirit is righteous then the mind, and body act accordingly. But if the spirit, is in darkness, it acts in accordance with the wishes of the body, then the mind will allow all members to sin, this only to please the lust of the flesh. This is why it is written in scripture; The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mat 6:22-23)

For we all must remember that this body, or life, is divided into three separate but joined parts. 1. The Body. 2. The Mind and 3. The Spirit.
The Truth is that, the spirit, and the mind of many, have been in darkness and cannot see the truth. They have been deceived by false doctrine and lust. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. (Eph 4:18-19)

Act 17:20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
This may seem to be a strange doctrine to many, but the truth is, that no other religion, on this earth, teaches truth, as love and forgiveness, no other religion is based on the will of God, no other religion treats your enemies as yourself. No other religion has an offering of pure blood for the forgiveness of sin, For as it is written, "Without the shedding of Blood, there is no forgiveness of sin." So then, What is Truth? You know what it is, all you have to do is accept it. Ars.

Princess Room Makeover for Little Girls

There comes a time in every little girl's life when dreams of princesses, castles, and knights in shining armor fill the imagination. Every charming daughter wants to be the beautiful princess, imaging Cinderella dreams of princes and horses. When your little girl gets old enough to fall in love with fairy tales, a room set up in a princess style might be the perfect gift for your little queen. A princess room can be a wonderful birthday present for your little girl, and setting up the surprise of a princess room makeover is easy. Here's how.

Advance planning is a must. You're going to have to do all of your shopping for furniture and accessories without your child noticing shipments and boxes. One of the best ways to do shopping these days is online, and you can have stores ship your purchases to a friend's house until the day of the princess room makeover. Make sure to check on shipping costs for the items you buy, and try to find a store that has everything you need rather than shopping around.

ROM BEDS

When shopping, choose items that are sturdy, with durable construction as well as long-lasting appeal. Avoid cheap plastic or cartoon-character items - those models will pass from your child's favor quickly when fads change and the next cartoon character comes along. Sturdy wood with a classic appeal is the better choice.

Make sure to select furniture that is sized to your child's little stature. Safety first above all. Provide children with furniture they don't have to climb or stretch to use. Chairs and tables should be to their size, not adult size, and smaller beds are safer than adult-sized single beds. The Magical Rocking Horse offers scaled down children's furniture that is solid and durable.

Look for themed furniture such as four-poster beds and small vanity sets with a table, mirror, and chair. This type of princess furniture will set the theme of your room, and you can add accessories that fit right in. Four-poster beds are great, because you can add a dowel and hang voile curtains for a true princess-style sleeping areas. Canopies of see-through sheer material or netting are easy to make and hang. Here are some instructions for princess-themed bed canopies. Add a small rocking chair near a bookcase, and you're ready to accessorize.

Choose bedding that reflects a fairy princess theme. Flowers and leaves are good choices, as are pale pinks or blues for colored bedding. Avoid white bedding, as children will get whites dirty very quickly. Dust ruffles and ruffled pillowcases are a must, and choose curtains over blinds. Avoid bright primary colors or thick, heavy materials for all bedding, as lighter materials leave more of a fairy princess impression. Make sure that the bedding pattern or color is not the primary focal point of the room, and let the smaller accessories add touches of brightness instead.

Pay attention to lamps that offer soft lighting or those that have patterned shades that allow stamped-out stars or moons shine on the walls. Figurines of fairies are a nice touch; place these out of reach and somewhere the child won't climb to touch them. Purchase a mirror with an ornate frame to hang in the room or, alternatively, choose a picture frame and have a mirror fitted inside. Drape garlands of flowers and ribbons over dressers or hang a wreathe of vines and flower buds on the wall. These are easy to make using fake flowers and vine wire purchased from discount craft stores.

The furniture will create the base theme of the room, and all the little things you add will help create an aura of fairy tale princess. Using your creativity and imagination with small items you can purchase at discount stores is the best. Larger items that cost more won't carry off the theme as well as an assortment of tiny items with a delicate (and budget conscious) appeal.

Carry out the room makeover when your daughter will be away from home. Have her go on a sleepover night at a friend's house or at her grandparents, and then start decorating!

What Is a CD-Rom?

CD-ROM is an acronym that stands for compact disk, read-only memory. It is a compact disc that is pre-pressed and that contains data that is readable and accessible to the reader, though it is un-writable.

CD-ROMs are popular for use as a medium for software distribution. This includes games and all kinds of different multimedia applications. A CD-ROM can actually store any data, but they are most commonly used for software.

ROM BEDS

Physically, a the device looks just like a compact disc. It is round and flat, with one side that may have something printed on it. The other side, which is the side that holds the data, is usually reflective.

These devices are specifically made from 1.2 mm polycarbonate plastic, but they have a very think aluminum layer on them, which is what creates the reflective surface.

CD-ROMs are actually a miracle of modern technology. They are something that we really take for granted nowadays, despite being very powerful storage tools. For example, just for comparison, one CD could hold the entire English Encyclopedia....words, pictures, and all. Plus, it would even have room left over for some video clips and audio tracks!

As you can see, compared to paper, the these devices is almost an unimaginable level of storage space in an incredibly small container. The data stored on the disc is read by laser beams, which is how you get the data from the CD to translate to viewable material on your computer. In order to read a CD with your computer, you need to have a suitable CD-ROM disc drive that is in working condition and hooked up appropriately.

CD-ROMs are a bit different then CDs, though the two are similar in many ways....especially in appearance.

Ideas For Landscaping a Hill

There are many ideas for landscaping a hill and many considerations that will need your attention before you start. With some prior planning, the finished result can be stunning. Without some prior planning, you could end up with a lot of hard work which results in an impractical area that is difficult to maintain.

hillsdale furniture

The steepness of the hill will be a factor to take into account when deciding what the area is going to be used for. If the area is very steep, then it may be an idea to add some terracing. This will make it much more manageable and will also reduce the chances of landslides. A series of terraces will provide flat land so that some areas can be used for seating. These can be accessed by steps and the whole space can be made to look as formal or natural as desired. If your finances will allow, there are many options available when it comes to terracing ideas for landscaping a hill side garden. Paved areas can be linked by stepped or ramped pathways and it can include some flat flower gardens. If funds are limited, it is possible to take a more rustic approach and leave some of the land natural with just a couple of terraced areas which can be cultivated or used for seating.

HILL

If your hill side garden is currently heavily planted with trees, you should be careful if you decide to remove them all. You may find that their roots are a contributing factor to the stability of the slope and their removal may cause much of the soil to make its way to the bottom of the hill. Any of your ideas for landscaping a hill must take this into account and, if you are not going to terrace the area, then it may be wise to keep some of the secure and established root systems in tact. If you do not already have some trees on the hill then it may be wise to consider planting some. Trees planted on a hillside can look stunning as you stand at the top and look over them. If the slope is steep it can give you a real feeling of being amongst the tree tops.

A sloping garden has tremendous potential for anyone with an imagination and good eye. It can be made to look very natural, with areas of wild flowers and possibly even a substantial water feature. It is possible to include a long stream tumbling down the hillside amongst rocks and thoughtfully planted wild flowers. This would obviously depend on the availability of an electricity supply as a good quality pump would need to be included. Such a water feature would have to be one of the first parts of the construction of the garden with other aspects built around it. You would have to carefully plan all of your ideas for landscaping a hill garden prior to undertaking such a large project. The end result, however, could be stunning.

Other considerations are going to have to include the drainage of the area. It goes without saying that top of the hill is going to drain to the bottom so there is no point in putting thirsty plants at the top and cacti at the bottom. The best plan of action is to gather all your ideas for landscaping a hill area together and decide what you want to use the area for. You must decide whether your finished project is going to be formal or rustic, whether you want to include a water feature or if you want to incorporate some terracing.

How To Create The Perfect Disney Princess Room

There's Snow White and Cinderella, Aurora (better known as Sleeping Beauty) and Ariel, there's Aladdin's Jasmine and the Beast's Belle. Role models for your little princess are everywhere she looks. Which is why it only makes sense to give her a bedroom that makes her feel like fairy tale royalty.

At the Heart of It All: The Bed

ROM BEDS

At the core of every princess's private chambers is her bed. A bed for a little princess might be (or look like) be a four poster bed, maybe a canopy bed, maybe both. Custom theme beds can be designed to look like anything you wish, and it is nowhere more apparent than in a princess themed bedroom.

Long flowing fabrics, plush pillows, satiny bedding, frilly lace borders - all of these help complete the image of bed fit for a princess. But with a custom theme bed, the fantasy doesn't stop there. For that bed can be placed behind a drawbridge inside a magnificent flower and vine covered castle or it can be placed inside a splendid horse-drawn carriage (pumpkin shaped or otherwise).

Whether you select a princess castle bed, a horse-drawn carriage bed, or a custom theme bed of some other design, the fact remains that your little girl will be elated to bed down at night and will wake up each morning feeling like the queen-in-waiting that she is.

Colors for a Princess Themed Bedroom: Pretty in Pink

Though purple and gold are considered royal colors, they would be better used as accents in a room dominated by the color that dominates most little princess's fantasies - pink. A pink castle bed, for example, will make any little princess's eyes sparkle. Pink bedding, pink window coverings, pink lighting fixtures, pink carpeting, and pink supplementary furniture all only complement and complete the picture.

Then consider using white highlights throughout the room to neutralize the impact of all that pink.

Murals Make it Easy

Both on the walls of the bedroom as well as on the walls of the custom theme bed, painted murals are an easy way to incorporate a wide array of fantastical elements into your little girl's fairy tale world. From her dashing prince or knight in shining armor to her animated attendants to all the extravagant accoutrements of a perfect princess fantasy, a simple brush and paint make magic-making easy.

Furniture for a Princess Themed Bedroom

A little princess always has to be looking her best, so an ample wardrobe and dressing table with mirror are the two essential furniture elements to add to any princess themed bedroom. You could go ahead and furnish each of these pieces separately with no trouble, but another option is to have a wardrobe and dressing table built in to her custom theme bed.

Gardening Tips For Landscaping A Slope Or A Hill

Not every gardener is lucky enough to have flat property on which to garden. If you do have a slope or a hill, it is often very difficult, confusing and challenging trying to figure out how to landscape. There are many ideas and tips on gardening on a hill, which helps you deal with the special challenges and problems you are likely to encounter. If the garden slope is extremely steep, stay away from planting grass or gardens that need any kind of maintenance, as it can be hazardous trying to cut or look after them.

hillsong

A couple of great tips on gardening on a slope are to plant trees and shrubs. Their root system will slow water runoff, especially during heavy rainstorms, and anchor the soil. Tall perennial grasses also work well on hills and require no maintenance. If you like the natural look, sow wildflower seed over the area, which will look beautiful and keep the topsoil from eroding or washing away. Wildflower seeds are readily available in bulk at large garden centers and nurseries. For every square foot you need approximately fifty seeds. If you have a small area to seed, buy a small can, but for large areas, wildflower seeds are available in bulk. Make sure that whatever you plant requires no regular maintenance if it is a steep hill.

HILL

In Pennsylvania I saw a beautifully landscaped hill planted with different colors of azaleas. The site in the spring and early summer was breathtaking. This was on a steep hill so it not only helped with erosion but was gorgeous too.

For shady areas, the tips on gardening on a hill are a little different. Most wildflowers require lots of light so a shady area is not a good choice. Instead, consider shade-loving ferns, perennials and low growing vines. Not only does the leaves slow erosion by catching the rain before it hits the ground but the roots help keep the soil from washing away. Another couple of great tips on gardening on a slope are to create stair steps or terraces. This requires some work, as you need to do a lot of digging. You may need to construct a retaining wall, depending on how steep the slope is. A level area to plant helps with erosion problems and makes it far easier to work in your garden.

For anyone that has a few garden challenges, such as land that slopes, they are always happy to find tips on gardening on a slope. If you are lucky enough to have weathered or interesting looking rocks on your hill, then it is the perfect area to create a rock garden. It would be good to plant some low growing vines and perennials in your rock garden to add texture and interest to your rock garden.

Definitely come up with a plan before you attempt your hill garden. Ask your garden center for some advice about your garden; they will be of great assistance. As with all gardens it is most important that you take time to enjoy your gardens whether they are on a hill or in beds.

Happy Gardening!

Canopy Crib - Designing Your Baby's Dream Room

Having a baby can be one of the most exciting times in your life. There are so many things to do to get ready for your new baby, and creating the nursery is one of the most important and exciting tasks for parents-to-be. Designing a nursery in which your baby will be comfortable, safe, and secure is of primary importance to expecting parents. A canopy crib can be one of the nicest pieces of furniture that you can add to your baby's new room and it will truly help to create a beautiful and comfortable space for your new bundle of joy.

If you are looking to create a fairytale fantasy for your little one, then a canopy crib can offer you exactly what you are looking for. It is one of the more unique ways to go and will offer a special area for your prince or princess to sleep. Additionally, many of these cribs offer the advantage of doubling as a future bed as well.

ROM BEDS

A Bit of History

In the past, most of those who owned a canopy baby crib were royalty, nobility, or other people of great wealth. Those who bought this type of crib wanted the nursery to look like a palace. Ordinary folks generally would not consider, or could not afford, this type of crib.

What is a Canopy Crib?

For starters, canopy cribs typically have four posters which support a canopy structure. Fabric is draped over this structure above where your baby sleeps. This type of crib offers a great deal of elegance and style. Canopy cribs are most often made out of various types of wood, such as cherry, yet they are also available in other materials, such as wrought iron. They can be found in a range of different styles and shapes, including the traditional rectangular crib shape and a more dramatic round shape.

Are They Safe?

Yes, a canopy crib is safe. You do not have to worry that the crib canopy fabric will fall on your baby while he or she is sleeping. Once the canopy is attached to the structure, the only way for it to come down is for you to take it down.

Designing your Baby's Room

Ultimately, you'll want to create a soothing and peaceful atmosphere for your baby's nursery. In general, cool colors such as greens or blues, will help to create a calm, peaceful environment for your little one. Warm colors, on the other hand, lend to a warm and comforting environment. In addition, for your baby bedding, there are numerous nursery themes to choose from on the market today, or you can customize a look that is completely unique to your baby.

If you decide on a canopy crib, the easiest and best way to design your nursery is to use the crib as the focal point in the room and work from there. There are so many choices in baby bedding and the crowning touch--the crib canopy can be as unique as your new baby.

Additionally, look for furniture that serves more than one purpose--such as a dresser that doubles as a changing table.

Where Can You Find a Canopy Crib?

You can find canopy cribs in various department stores and in baby specialty stores. However, for a larger selection of all types of cribs, baby bedding, and canopies, shopping online is the way to go. This is because online stores can easily offer a larger selection of baby furniture than brick and mortar stores due to the fact that they are not limited in their showroom space. The same holds true if you want to view a larger selection of crib canopy styles and baby bedding.

So decide on the type of crib you'd like for your new baby and design a beautiful, functional nursery around your crib of choice!

Feng Shui Bedroom Basics For Teens

Feng shui is a wonderful way to create improvements in your life simply by aligning the items in your bedroom. These can include your bed, your desk or computer, even your stereo.

Feng shui is a wonderful way to create improvements in your life simply by aligning the items in your bedroom. You might even find a new love as a result! Use these tips to get your room in harmony with your life.

ROM BEDS

Important Basic Feng Shui Bedroom Do's and Don'ts

DO use a compass

Stand in the middle of the room and hold the compass level and waist-high. Then make a diagram of your room, creating nine squares. Put the correct direction on each square. Now you are ready to move the items according to compass or your personal auspicious directions. (A compass only costs about - at Wal-Mart or Target.)

Give yourself a mini-space clearing

--If you decide to use feng shui in your room, then clear out all unnecessary items and junk from your drawers, closet, and under the bed.

--Clean thoroughly by vacuuming, dusting and washing windows, ceiling fans, etc.

--Now you're ready to feng shui your room, but follow the DON'Ts below:

DON'Ts

Don't have open book shelves opposite your bed or behind you as you study. These act like knives and will encourage people "talking behind your back."

Don't have water or pictures of water (this aggravates asthma, allergies, and can encourage respiratory or sinus problems). So take out the Zen fountain or fish tank.

Don't have plants in the bedroom. Plants use up body energy in your bedroom.

BED DOs and DON'Ts

DO make sure it has the widest view of the room and entryway so you can see the door easily

DO try to sleep with the top of your head pointing in one of your personal feng shui directions (see below)

DO have a solid wall behind it (or at least curtains) vs. a window

DO make sure you cannot see a bathroom, toilet, or stairs from the bed

DON'T have the bed against a shared wall of a bathroom or toilet

DON'T have a mirror or television that reflects the bed

DON'T have your feet point out the door from your bed

Using personal feng shui: Having your head pointed in one of your auspicious directions (AD) is one of the best ways to tap good luck. Click here to calculate your personal feng shui directions. This link will tell you what directions are the best for you. Even if your room is in the Southwest portion of the house and this is not a good direction for you, you can still orient your bed so that your head points in one of your good directions.

DESK DOs and DON'Ts

DO try to place your desk in NE corner of your room

DO always sit where you can see the door and anyone entering the room easily

DO try to face one of your AD

DO keep a bright light turned on here to enhance your education luck

DO hang a lead crystal from the ceiling here, or place rock crystals in this corner of the room and in the NE corner of the desk for better study concentration

DO add a globe to this location to improve test scores and success in school

DRESSER

Place in East corner if wood

Place in West corner if metallic-colored, or if painted white, silver, or gold

Place in North if black or blue

Place in SE if green

Place in South or SW if red, orange, purple

COMPUTER, PHONE, & STEREO

Place phone in the NW corner of room to bring more helpful people into your life.

Keep stereo playing on low volume while you are away to keep energy active in your room and attract helpful people to you.

DECORATIONS, ETC.

Mirrors: Not recommended in the bedroom. If used, make sure you cannot see yourself from the bed.

Lamps: Place one in the south (fame and recognition; a lava lamp is great here!), the NE (educational luck), and the SW (to help you with your sweetie or bring one if you don't have one already -- lava lamps are also great here, too!). The lamps will energize these areas.

Pictures: Make sure are these positive images that make you happy. Violence, dark, or brooding-types of pictures are not suitable for a place of rest and relaxation.

Troubles with mom and dad? Place a happy picture of your family in the East corner of your room to help these relationships become easier and more harmonious.

Looking for a new love? Place a picture of your heart's desire in the SW to help this relationship -- or to encourage a new one relationship, place a picture of your "ideal" person here.

Bulletin boards: Hang these on the south wall of your room. Pin pictures of famous people, letters of recognition, awards, ribbons, or certificates here for more added recognition any kind of accomplishment is perfect for this location.

A light that illuminates this area is especially helpful! Place trophies on a shelf in this location for continued success and recognition. Paint this board red for an extra boost in recognition energy!

Ceiling fans: not recommended because they displace body energy while sleeping; if used, place small red dot on each blade.

Clutter: If you don't feel well or you're having troubles in your life, clear your space. Get a box and do a thorough cleaning out. This doesn't mean you have to throw things away.

Store them in the garage or attic. If after a while you don't use any of these things, then donate them to charity. Do make note of how you feel once your room is clear.

With a harmonious environment, you are sure to be more comfortable, enjoy yourself more, and do better in life. If, you have used any of these tips and found them helpful, I'd like to know about it! I'm always interested in hearing from teens who have benefited from feng shui! Drop me a note here.

Downtown San Diego's Hidden Jewel - Cortez Hill

For starters, Cortez Hill is the highest point in San Diego. Reminiscent of Nob Hill in San Francisco which became popular after the fire took out the downtown section. Cortez Hill once an unpopular area is fast becoming the destination for downtown San Diegans wanting to flee the noise and grit of the Gas Lamp and East Village arenas.

hills prescription diet

Cortez Hill is primarily a residential, quite, clean, suburban style neighborhood. It is well situated with easy freeway access to 5 and 163. In fifteen minutes of walking time, you can be in Balboa Park, Little Italy, Gas Lamp, Marina and East Village. You can get to the restaurants, lounges, shopping in all of these popular sections while not having to sleep amongst them.

HILL

Cortez Hill runs from 9th and Ash to just beyond Cedar Street, a small friendly community. Very few shops, but what we have is nice. Sola Luna Restaurant, great Italian cuisine (wine too) - try the Panini. Little Yoga, I haven't tried, should, but have seen a crowd waiting for a session. Studio M, see Melissa for the best and most affordable colors and cuts in town. Also at the base of Avalon you will find a small market - see Louie for lottery tickets.

Residences in the neighborhood range from the low end at El Cortez to high end at Aria, Cortez Blue and Discovery. You will also find Aloft, the Mills, Park on 10th, with rentals available at Heritage and Avalon. As I said, the price range is wide, as well as the quality, but all encourage a quiet clean living environment. The range runs from the low 200's at El Cortez to the 900's atop Aria. Just take a walk around the neighborhood, enjoy Tweet Park and notice the serene ambiance of Cortez Hill.

The YWCA is in the middle of a welcome face lift and addition. A major portion of the funding for this project was provided by BOSA Development during the Discovery Building construction period in the early 2000's.
The row homes on 9th and 10th are a delightful addition to the neighborhood bringing a slice of suburbia to our urban environment.

Our neighborhood has two recent construction buildings; Aria and Aloft. Aria is 90% sold. Remaining products consist of two and three bedrooms primarily in the Penthouse Series on the upper floors. Aloft is currently 59% sold.

Spring Time is KING Time!

(2 Samuel 11:1-3) 1 "In the spring of the year, when kings normally go out to war..."

Well, it's February as I write here in Texas. Snowing today but Spring is coming. As any itinerant minister can attest, for whatever reason, most churches cut back on booking us to come and minister in their churches during the holidays and Winter months. I'm not sure why that is. Where my own traveling ministry is concerned, as February comes to a close, my Spring calendar is suddenly filling up as more churches are responding to my promotional material, requesting meetings in March and April. I am ready. I'm fired-up. I was born for such a time as this and am using every medium and method possible to get my Faith at Work message across.

ROM BEDS

"David sent Joab and the Israelite army to fight the Ammonites. They destroyed the Ammonite army and laid siege to the city of Rabbah. However, David stayed behind in Jerusalem..."

David - the inspirational Warrior King of Israel - sent others to do battle while he stayed home?? Impossible! What was he going to do with himself? Wait and see...

2 "Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath."

Was Satan setting him up, or what? His army is laying their lives on the line while their king is napping and gawking! He was about to take the bait...

3 "He sent someone to find out who she was, and he was told, "She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite."

Because he wasn't off doing what a king should be doing... making war... he chose to make love. He fell into adultery with Uriah's wife, conspired to have him murdered, and wound up with a child who died at 7 days of age.

We're talking about King David... apple of God's eye, man after God's own heart, slayer of Goliath, a mighty warrior... and an adulterer and conspirator?!!

Say it isn't so!

When kings spring into action

Why did the kings go to war in the Spring? Better weather, I guess. I've read about the effects of weather on the world's armies throughout history and it can be an awful deterrent. Disease, insects, flooding, footing, morale, mobilization, advantages lost... so, by waiting for good weather, a king increases his odds of success.

Who are today's Biblical kings? WE ARE! We are referred to in Scripture as being part of an army of priests and kings, a kingdom of priests, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. We are a priesthood of believers.

What makes us so "kingly"? Frankly, it doesn't have much to do with us. The Anointed One - Christos, in Greek, the King who was actually anointed as such - is Jesus. Kings are born, not elected, or appointed. His Kingdom, basilea, in Greek, actually means "dominion." As Jesus said to the Pharisees, "the Kingdom of God doesn't come with observation." In other words, you can't see it. He finished by saying "the Kingdom of God is within you." That's where it's hidden.

If the Kingdom was in THEM, surely it's in YOU, too, right? Yes, that's true. What's more, according to Romans 8:11, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. Jesus is the Anointed Head (Christos) and we are His Body. He will never leave or forsake us (when was the last time your head left your body?).

Good enough for King David... how 'bout you?

What was it that made God refer to David as "a man after my own heart"? In Acts 13:22, we can read it plain as day: "After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'"

That's it?? David would do everything God wanted him to do? As anyone can read about David, He did NOT do everything God wanted Him to. In fact, he made some pretty bone-headed decisions at times. Are we to believe that God could see David's heart's desire was to do all that God required of Him even when he chose NOT to physically do so? Is it all about one's heart and NOT one's physical actions? If I were to consider a quadriplegic, the answer would be 'yes.'

Simple as it sounds, we would all have to admit total obedience is a pretty tall order. David was just a man and was unable to do what he really WANTED to do at all times. Based upon outward appearances, we can agree David seemed to miss the mark (we call this "sin") quite often. Fortunately, God, who is Spirit, looks inwardly, not outwardly (1 Samuel 16:7).

Yes, David was WILLING to do whatever God asked of him, even though he fell short from time to time, as we ALL do (Rom 3:23), but God knew his heart, just as He knows yours and mine. Because of the Blood shed at Calvary, we are now the righteousness of God in Christ. In other words, God sees only Christ in us, NOT all the carnal, worldly things we do that once separated us.

The trouble with Grace? It's ours but we don't get it.

I can hear many Christians now... "That's greasy grace! You're giving people a license to sin!" Folks, we don't NEED a license; we're going to sin any way. As long as we walk around in these earth suits, sin comes naturally. Adultery (Jesus referred to this as lusting in one's heart), Murder (Jesus referred to this as hatred of another), Stealing, Gluttony, Pride, Word curses... we're good at being bad.

Here's a test: Try NOT to think of a glass bowl filled with green and red M&M's. Now, try not to sin.

Even if I COULD stop sinning, I would likely get prideful about that and THAT is a sin too. "Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Rom 7:24-25).

Yes, it's pretty obvious - I need a Savior! We ALL do. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 encourages us all: "...there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all..." We DO have a Savior! Our sins ARE forgiven! If that doesn't make us fall in love with God for His incredible plan for man, what will? Like David, yes, we are bound to mess up again. Fortunately, God sees Jesus, the sinless One.

What don't we understand about God's grace? In a world where we are rewarded ONLY for doing good, we have difficulty relating to a life where the rule book has been destroyed. Reminds me of a friend whose home lies at the end of an airfield he owns. He told me I could drive fast as I wanted to all the way to his home on the runway because there was no legal speed limit. Get it?

I know. I know. Manmade Religion has devised all kinds of methods to ensure salvation - hoops for each affiliate to jump through in order to confirm one's blessed assurance. What? The bloody cross wasn't good enough?! Believing in Jesus wasn't cutting it? Could it be that it takes something more than one's faith? Is it possible that even though so many of our manmade salvation techniques only serve to sow confusion and dissension, God allows them despite His hatred for anything that causes disunity (Prov 6:16)?

Nah!

It's time to go to war, kings... ALL of us, NOT merely the paid professionals and NOT with each other. In fact, of all those "one another" verses found in the New Testament, "KILL ONE ANOTHER" or "SPEAK ILL OF ONE ANOTHER" are nowhere on the list.

Remember, we have an enemy, but he's not US!

Every blessing,
Michael Tummillo
A servant of God

5 Ways to Decorate With Zebra Print

A splash of color, pattern and bold graphics is the perfect way to turn your décor up a notch. No matter your style, if you really want to take it from "Drab-ulous" to "Fabulous" then adding a touch of zebra print or other animal print (or a little of both) is just the ticket. Here are some great ideas to help you incorporate this classic yet always trendy design element into your space.

The Zebra Print Rug - Not only does every living space need a bit of color and pizzazz, it also needs an anchor. A specific décor element that draws the eye and centers the stage on which to base the rest of the room's design style. Nothing fills that position as well as a zebra print rug. They come in every shape and size from a small throw rug for your master bath to a huge floor covering 12' x 18' and of course, even larger! There are also zebra print rugs that are created from animal hair and those too that are shaped like the hide of an animal. Whether if front of your fireplace, under your cocktail table, at the foot of your bed or traveling up the middle of your staircase, a zebra rug is sure to bring the "WOW!" factor you're looking for as well as add a bit of your own fun, daring and confident personality to the space.

ROM BEDS

Zebra Print Bedding - Spice things up by adding zebra bedding to your master or guest bedroom. No matter if your existing décor is traditional or contemporary, you'll be safe if you throw in a touch of animal print because it's so transitional and versatile that it incorporates itself well into most existing decors. A few pillows and a throw blanket are all you need to take a walk on the wild side. If you prefer, or are on a tight budget, there are many zebra print bedding sets that include coordinating pieces that blend in cohesively with each other. These zebra comforter sets can completely transform a room without depleting your bank account - just keep this one important tip in mind - less is more. Don't overdo it by turning your windows, floor, bed and bathroom into a jungle. A little zebra print goes a long way!

Zebra Print Chairs - From dining rooms, to bedrooms to living and family rooms, zebra bring chairs are a popular and sophisticated design option that literally wakes up the space and flips it on it's rear! A zebra chaise lounge in a master bedroom suite is absolutely stunning! Add a pretty pillow of another color such as green or blue or purple and step back and soak in the view - then sit down, kick up your feet and bask in your decorating glory! A pair of zebra print, low back, tub style chairs in your formal living room will beg for the question, "Where did you get those chairs?" which will be followed by, "I just love them!" A set of zebra print dining chairs or even just a pair mixed in with (replacing two of) your existing dining chairs can transform the dining room into an elegant, trendy and even a little bit funky space for your guests to enjoy a terrific meal with excellent hosts!

Zebra Print Pillows - For an easy way to incorporate the zebra print pattern into any space such as a bedroom, guest, family or living room, simply purchase one or a few zebra pillows of various sizes and textures and add them to your existing décor. Remember that these great little design elements are available in the traditional black and white zebra pattern as well as in tan and black - no rule states you can't do both together! Experiment - leave the price tags on and keep them on the sofa or bed for a few days. Don't be afraid to have a little fun and take a few chances with your space - a pillow or two is nothing permanent or costly. Go ahead - take a walk on the wild side.

Zebra Print Shower Curtain - For the master or guest bath, a zebra shower curtain is a truly eye catching design strategy that can't go wrong! Mix in a little bit of other animal print or a different black and white pattern such as tiny checks or dots and toss in a pop of color and you're all set! Don't get crazy with the zebra or animal print in the bathroom. It's a small space a like we said before - a little bit of zebra pattern goes a long, long way!

Texas Hill Country Guide

For any city dweller living in San Antonio or Austin or even San Marcos and New Braunfels the Texas Hill Country is full of the kind of mystique you find only in films or books.

Within a short time's drive out of the city's suburbs you are in Central Texas territory your eyes feasting on rolling, rugged hills the kind of which Hollywood cameramen love to let the camera pan upon.

HILL

There are very specific reasons however for the mystique. Has everything you may want of a terrain, and the surrounding hills come with their share of caverns and caves which make it exciting as a day out spent exploring. The Colorado River runs through it as do both the Llano and the Pedemales and then there is the sense of peace that can only be experienced when you are there.

Out of the exotic melange of Spanish, Czech, German, Swiss and Austrian rose a culture which is uniquely Central Texan and separate from Texas' Southern and Southewestern influences. The food, the music, the lifestyle, they all combine to form an experience that accounts for much of the popularity with Texans as well as out-of- Staters.

For those who seek neither much adventure in the Central Texas rolling hills nor much of nature in the Central Texas rivers the Hill Country has another attraction: its thriving wine industry.
The Texas wine industry has become a talking point in quality restaurants across the USA and in the Hill Country you are within striking distance of many of the vineyards which produce the much talked about Texas wine labels.

An exotic, unique culture, hills and rivers and wineries, all combine to raise Texas Hill Country property values in a way that other areas of the US can only dream about.

How to Backup Your Hard Disk Data

Implement your own Backup System:

Backing up computer data has become an imperative job for Windows users. This occurs because data safety is very critical and every user must be aware that unpredictable events can happen and that could destroy important data on their PC's or Mac's. Learning how to perform backups is a really 'an absolute must'. Any user, no matter how confident he or she is about their computer, need undertake actions to prevent losing data (images, music, documents, work, email, etc). Hard disks crash, power blackouts occur, accidental deleting of files DOES occur. Viruses or other unplanned events can destroy your work in a split second, but, don't blame these events; blame yourself for not learning backing-up! Now read on - to learn how.

ROM BEDS

A basic Introduction: Performing a Basic Backup - for those just getting started!

What and How to Backup?

If you were a System Administrator responsible for maintaining critical Network Servers, the answer would be EVERYTHING! However, this would make for some extra hard work and a deep understanding of how computers work. What I outline here is a simple basic backup method. Attempting to backup everything is a very hard challenge for modern Windows. Why? Since Windows 2000 release, Windows (2000, XP, and Vista) has become a true multi-tasking operating system. This means there are some System Files that CANNOT be 'easily' backed-up - or restored. It is like trying to lift yourself out of bed - by your own feet!

Complete software backups are possible with multiple operating systems and more than one hard drive!

To dual boot means that you have more than one operating system installed on the hard drive and that you can decide between the two when you start your computer.

Instead of backing up everything, I will advise you on my own simple back-up method. This involves only those things that are irreplaceable, and that means critical data and personal files. All other things (Operating System and Programs) can be replaced by a clean install. Let us look at each software component in order:

Operating System - If your hard drive fails, you may need to buy a new unit and start with a clean install. Step one is installing the Operating System. You will need two things to do this, the installation media (CD-ROM), and its associated Product Key. Program Software (Office, etc) - This will come with its own CD-ROM, and it's associated registration codes. Make sure you know where they are when it comes time to reinstall. Downloadable software (Skype, Firefox, etc) - Go to the respective Website, and print out the details for the products download page. If you need to reinstall, this will tell you where to go for the download. Shareware - Print out the registration code, along with the Web home page (if applicable) and store it.

Now, if you do some analysis of your own hard drive, you will find that at least 70%, and probably more, of what is on your hard drive falls in one of the above categories. With just a little preparation, you can reinstall all of this above software - if you really need to do so.

Documents: This folder is the main area for your personal data. Normally, all your saved work, pictures, and music are placed in a folder in this directory. This makes it a very easy to do a backup on this section. Address book: Whatever e-mail client you use, you have an address book containing a list of those people you have contacted. Bookmarks and Favorites: You will have saved the addresses of some great Web sites. Netscape saves them as a single file, Internet Explorer uses a single directory containing individual links to each site. E-mail files: All those special messages you sent and received can be backed up. Other: You may have MYOB or QuickBooks that has critical data that cannot be replaced easily.

Create your own Backup with a Batch File: Step one is purchase an external USB hard drive kit. Once installed correctly, a new drive will be shown in "My Computer". Make a note of the drive letter that is allocated to it -eg; E: or F: or G:, etc...

The key to your own automated backup is the use of a batch file. This is a text file (or script file) that contains commands that are executed whenever the file is run. Creating a batch file is quite easy. In Windows, you can create one using Notepad. The thing to remember is that it must be a pure ASCII text file. Using a Word Processor, even WordPad, will not produce a pure text. I recommend using Notepad.

It is often easier to copy your existing work directories to separate hard disk (or a network resource) rather than using other complicated backup software. Several directories can be backed up easily by simply creating a simple a batch file (termed .CMD file in Windows 2000, XP and Vista). This 'backup' file can be saved and you may either:

Run it manually from your Windows Desktop - or Add a 'short-cut' to this file into the Windows [Startup] folder It can be added to the Windows [Scheduled Tasks] folder

Windows Batch files have many other uses - just like this working example. Copy the text box below, and paste it into Notepad. Save the file with a name like 'MyBackup.cmd, and be sure to add the cmd extension, and not the default txt.

This can be used as a working template of your own automatic backup script! Modify it to suit your own needs:

Notes: substitute the 'set drive=E:Backup' for the drive letter of your 2nd hard drive (or other network path).

Copy and Paste this 'Backup Script' to Notepad: (then save as MyBackup.cmd)

@Echo off

:: variables

Set drive=E:Backup

Set BackUpCmd=xcopy /s /e /h /c /d /i /r /k /y

If exist "%drive%Registryregbackup.reg" del "%drive%Registryregbackup.reg"

@Pause

The above Batch Script performs the following:

Backs up My Documents (all your documents, pictures, music, etc) Backs up Favourites (the website addresses you have saved) Backs up Outlook Express email and address book for the current user Backs up Outlook email and contacts for the current user (if found.) Backs up Incredimail email and address book for the current user (if found.) Backs up Mozilla email and address book for the current user (if found) Backs up the Windows Registry data for the current user

This script copies the files to the directory defined in the %drive% variable (E:Backup in the above script). After the first run, the script will incrementally add (over-write) any files that are found to be new - or have been changed. This backup script will copy system and hidden files found.

Understanding the Backup script:

Lines that begin with "::" are simply script comments The "set drive=" is used to indicate your backup Drive and any file path The "set BackUpCmd=" is used for the Xcopy command switches Lines beginning with "echo " are used to output text progress messages
Notes:

You can cancel this running script by a CTRL%2BC or CTRL%2BBreak The Registry backup in the above example saves the current 'User Profile' registry profile state. Saving the entire Windows System Hive Registry is not part of this simplistic and 'essential files' backup approach.
Easily Backup And Search Your Email

A great program that allows you to easily backup many popular Windows email programs, is MailStore Home. This is a free software tool will allow you to backup and archive email from the following email based programs:

Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Outlook Express Microsoft Windows Mail Microsoft Exchange Server Mailboxes Mozilla Thunderbird Mozilla SeaMonkey Webmailer POP3 and IMAP File Import

MailStore Home allows you to backup your email's messages from many common applications into one accessible archive store. MailStore will import your existing email from Outlook, Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Exchange. Once MailStore has archived your email, you can use this software to easily search through all your messages by keyword. Optionally, you can quickly create a backup CD or DVD within this program. CD and DVD burning is fully integrated within MailStore Home. Archived email messages are stored in a easy MIME-compatible format, and can be easily recovered at any time.

A better tool than using xcopy = RoboCopy:

Robocopy, or "Robust File Copy", is a command-line folder replication tool. It has been freely available as part of the Windows Resource Kit (outside this site), and has now been introduced as a standard component of Windows Vista.

Robocopy is noted for its capabilities above and beyond the built-in Windows COPY and XCOPY (outside this site) commands, including the following:

Ability to tolerate outages and resume copying where it previously left off Ability to correctly copy attributes, owner information, alternate data streams, auditing information, and timestamp's by default Ability to correctly copy NTFS ACL's, (when /COPYALL provided) Persistence by default, with a programmable number of automatic retries if a file cannot be opened A "mirror" mode, which keeps folder contents in sync by optionally deleting files out of the destination that are no longer present in the source Ability to copy a very large numbers of files that would otherwise exceed the resources of the built-in utility A progress indicator on the command line that updates continuously

Robocopy will not copy open files that are found to be 'in use' by other users or applications. The Windows Volume Shadow Copy service is the only Windows sub-system that can open files while they are in use. Robocopy does not implement accessing the Volume Shadow Copy service.

Traditionally Robocopy itself is a command-line tool, however Microsoft Technet has provided a GUI front-end.

Many tourists say that a vacation is actually expensive, especially with most of the 150 night clubs being very difficult to access if you're a tourist. In short, most clubs have very strict regulations which can be hard and expensive for those without "connections". Access alone to such popular nightspots would cost you around to and this is still depending on the venue and event. The only good thing is that most hotels are near popular clubbing venues.

South Beach is gaining popularity for its ever-changing and dynamic nightlife. It is even profiled for having one of the top ten of the world's legendary bars - B.E.D. Nightclub. Although most clubs are open on a seasonal basis, they are usually open up to 5 in the morning. For Ocean Drive, the steadfast tourist destinations are Mac's Club Deuce and The Clevelander. At current, the local government is thinking of ways to prevent the establishment of short lived clubbing venues.

Apart from the club scene, South Beach is also renowned for being one of the foremost locations in the world for fashion shoots. This makes the Miami area the "model shoot capital of the US". From the months of October to March, South Beach hotels are at its peak due to the prime shooting season. The most popular place for these photo shoots are along Ocean Drive and its back streets.

Decorating a Toddler Room - Tips for Preparing a Toddler Bedroom

Decorating your toddler's room is a major stage in your child's life. It is kind of the unofficial transition from babyhood to the toddler years. Just as you may have been unsure how to go about decorating your baby's room, you may be unsure of how to proceed with preparing their toddler room for them. Here are some tips:

Choose a bed they will be comfortable with. If you have crib that converts to a toddler bed, you will be able to skip right over this step of the planning process. If you need to purchase a bed for your toddler, consider a few things:
You may want to choose a toddler bed rather than going right into a twin bed. Because toddler beds are smaller, they may feel more safe and secure in one. If you can, let them help you choose their bed. This will make the whole experience more exciting for them and they may be more willing to sleep in the bed right away. If your child moves around a lot too while they are sleeping, consider choosing a toddler bed with high sides or invest in some sturdy bedrails to use on the bed that you do choose.
Decide on a theme or décor for the room. If your child hasn't outgrown the nursery's theme or décor, it may not be necessary to change the room much. If you do want to redecorate, consider letting your child help you make some of the decorating decisions for their new room. This is another way to get them excited and motivated about having a "big kid" room.

ROM BEDS

Remember to child proof the room. Just as you had to baby proof the nursery, you need to child proof your toddler's room:
Make sure cords from blinds and window treatments are secured up high to prevent choking hazards. Try to avoid putting furniture they may climb on in front of windows. Make sure windows are locked so the child can't fall out if they do manage to climb up to it. Put outlet protectors on all unused electrical outlets. Avoid using floor lamps in the room since a toddler can easily knock one over. Put table lamps up high on dressers and use a light bulb that stays cool to the touch in it to prevent burns. Hide cords from lamps, air purifiers, and other electrical items behind furniture if possible. Also use a cord wrapper to secure excess cord. Get down on their level and look for any more potential hazards that may need to be addressed.

By taking safety and your toddler's needs into consideration, you can create a safe and secure toddler room for them that they will enjoy sleeping and spending time playing in.

Grant Hill Early Life Bio, Former Duke University Blue Devil Basketball Player Now With Phoenix Suns

Grant Hill became a household name for college basketball fans when he rose to national prominence as a contributing member of the Duke University Blue Devils basketball program in the early 1990s. Since that time Hill has endured an NBA career in excess of 15 seasons that have largely been overshadowed by untimely injuries and placement on under performing teams. Most recently in the spring of 2010 Grant has become a relevant NBA player again while serving as co-captain (along with fellow veteran Steve Nash) of the Phoenix Suns.

Born in October of 1972 in Dallas, Texas Grant grew up in an affluent household as the son of Calvin Hill, a Yale educated pro bowl running back for the Dallas Cowboys. Father Calvin enjoyed a 12 year NFL career after being selected in the first round of the 1969 NFL Draft. After playing the bulk of the prime of his career with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League Calvin played the latter half of his football career with the Washington Redskins and finally the Cleveland Browns. In addition to a famous father Grant also had a well-educated mother who as a freshman at Wellesley College lived in a suite with future First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham whose married name is Hillary Rodham Clinton.

HILL

Grant came of age through middle school and high school in the 1980s in Reston, Virginia after his father had retired from football in 1981. Reston is located in the northern portion of Virginia not far from Washington D.C. With his 6'8" build and athletic genes Grant Hill became one of the top high school basketball recruits in the country and was awarded a spot on the coveted McDonald's High School All-American Team in 1990.

Interestingly, the man who eventually went onto become one of the most accomplished basketball players in the storied tradition of Duke Blue Devils basketball had to go against the wishes of both of his parents to choose that route. Father Calvin thought it would be in the best interest of his son to attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill while his mother Janet believed that playing basketball for nearby Georgetown University would be the best choice for her son.

Grant Hill played basketball for four years at Duke and won national championships in 1991 and 1992. Grant's junior season in 1993 when Duke University was upset in the NCAA Tournament by the University of California - Berkeley with star point guard Jason Kidd was the only time during his four year career at Duke that Hill failed to make it the national championship game.

Texas Hill Country Food and Wine Festival

Held every spring, the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival is a celebration of the rapidly expanding food and wine culture to be found in Central Texas. This 501(c)4 non-profit organization was founded in 1986, and their annual festivals have become one of the hottest tickets in town. Held over a four-day span, and featuring a multitude of events scattered throughout the greater Austin area, this festival highlights the cutting edge chefs, writers, food and wine producers who have elevated Texas into the culinary firmament.

The festival is concentrated in some of downtown Austin's most revered establishments, from the posh haute cuisine of the Four Seasons, to Austin's own Spanish tapas restaurant, Malaga. The events radiate out from this locus, including other Austin institutions such as Central Market, and spreading out into the Hill Country wineries including Fall Creek, Becker and Spicewood. The festival culminates in an all-day fair, often held in San Gabriel Park near Georgetown.

HILL

The events run the gamut from the frenetic heated battles of Iron Chef-style competitions, to Hill Country luncheons held amid the spring wildflowers at one of the participating wineries. Film and food are combined in events held at the Alamo Drafthouse, and music and food are combined in events such as Uncorked and Acoustic, featuring some of the finest talent Austin has to offer playing acoustically while participants enjoy food prepared by Austin's finest food talents. Bat cruises, reserve tastings, winemaker dinners and much more round out the weekend's offerings.

The premier event is the festival's Grand Tasting. Fittingly known as Stars Across Texas, the celebrated chefs featured here are from the hottest restaurants in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, the Hill Country and beyond - all bring their best to this unique event. The chefs and winemakers circulate throughout the event, giving participants the change to mingle and speak with these artisans in a unique milieu. With more restaurants, chefs, chocolatiers, pastry chefs, viticulturists and winemakers present than at any other event, this is truly the crown jewel of the festival.

The Sunday Fair is a less structured, more family-oriented event during which participants can sip and sample their way through a myriad of tents. Vendors include wineries, food artisans and restaurants from Texas and beyond, all proffering their specialties. Renowned chefs provide cooking demonstrations, discussion and panels are held on different food and wine-oriented topics, and since it is Austin, after all, you can count on some of the best live music from some of Austin's favorite musicians.

Throughout the four days of the festival, over thirty individual events are held, highlighting the products of more than one hundred restaurants, and at least sixty wineries. Although most speakers and presenters are Texan, guests are invited from other parts of the country, and the world, to illuminate Texas' impact on food and wine across the globe. The Festival is a affiliated with the prestigious James Beard Foundation, the Texas Department of Agriculture's GO TEXAN program, the Texas Restaurant Association and the Wine and Food Foundation of Texas.

A Dining Room Table With Bench Seats

By definition, a table is a piece of furniture that has a flat surface (usually round or square) with attached legs that hold it upright. A table is used to hold a variety of objects ranging from food to boxes, merchandise, or an endless variety of things for various purposes. We are all familiar with the modern table and how they are used, but the question is can you define a table based on the types of chairs that is uses, if it even uses chairs at all. Many early table designs incorporated drawers. This was common as the table could be used for additional storage area and would not typically utilize chairs. Today, a table that uses drawers is commonly referred to as a desk, which may have one or more drawers in its base.

But a desk, and a modern dining table for that matter, use a standard chair or stool as its matter of seating. A picnic table and some other outdoor tables use benches in lieu of chairs or stools to seat people. Although common for the outdoors, an indoor table rarely uses a stool for place settings. Can this still be classified as a table? By definition yes, although in today's modern interior having bench seats anywhere in the home would be considered a major decor gamble.

ROM BEDS

The reason for this is that bench seats take up quite a bit of space and cannot be easily moved from their static location. If you think about it, how many times have you seen someone take a bench seat from a dining room to the kitchen to add additional space? It's not very likely, although if a room has sufficient room and a seating arrangement that would not change often, there very well could be a use for a dining room table with a bench seat. This is not to say that a bench seat is not useful, but having one in a dining room can severely limit the mobility and space of a room.

Tips For Hill Climbing on a Mountain Bike

Mountain bike riding is a popular pastime and sport for many Americans. According to the National Bicycle Dealers Association, 28.5 percent of the bicycles sold by specialty bicycle shops in 2008 were mountain bikes. But it is a good bet that few of these riders consider actual mountain bike climbing to be their favorite part of the sport.

hillsdale furniture

Climbing hills, particularly steep hills, is an activity that most riders approach with dread. They know from hard, painful, sometimes humiliating experience that mountain bike climbing leads to the agony of defeat much more often than it leads to the thrill of victory. With the right strategy, however, hill climbing can be done efficiently, without causing undue hardship to the bike or to the body.

HILL

Three Ingredients of a Successful Bike Climb

Biking enthusiast Ken Kifer says that there are three ingredients of successful mountain bike climbing:

1. Physical strength of the rider
2. Proper gear selection for the climb
3. Hill climbing strategy employed

Assuming that most people who participate in such a rugged sport as mountain biking are physically fit, the first ingredient should not pose too great an issue. If it is a problem, some rough and tumble rides up and down various hills for a few weeks should eliminate this obstacle.

Items 2 and 3, however, are not quite so easy to master. However, before these aspects are even attempted, one must choose the correct type of bike

Choosing the Correct Type of Bike

There's a vast difference between a road bike and a mountain bike and not knowing this difference-and perhaps making the wrong choice-can make mountain bike climbing nearly impossible.

In general, one can tell the difference between a road bike and a mountain bike by considering two factors-the framing and tires of the bikes.

Framing.

Because road bikes are built for speed, they typically have lighter frames than do mountain bikes. By contrast, the heavier frames of mountain bikes house suspension systems that are built to withstand the frame-jarring shocks of rough terrains.

Tires.

Road bikes have thinner, smoother tires. The tires of mountain bikes, however, are broad with a significant amount of traction to handle rough terrains.

The Final Ingredients

The final two ingredients-proper gear selection and hill climbing strategy-are indispensible parts of each other. Both are essential ingredients of successful mountain bike climbing. Both involve strategy. And the uses of both are dependent on the different types of hills.

Mountain Bike Climbing Up Different Types of Hills

Most hills or mountains fall into three categories. Each category brings its own unique set of challenges. But each different type of hill can be conquered-with the proper strategy.

1.The concave hill is steepest as the top. Such a hill appears to get taller as the rider approaches.
2. A convex hill is steepest at the bottom. This type of a hill appears to get shorter as the rider approaches.
3. An even grade hill has a sloped, even rise.

To make mountain bike climbing even more challenging, some hills can be a combination of all three types and some can be part of a series of hills. Some can even be mountains. The strategies for climbing the different types of hills must be considered in relation to whether one is climbing an isolated hill, a series of hills, or a mountain, as the strategy is different for each.

This article will address the strategy for mountain bike climbing up an isolated hill.

Climbing an Isolated Hill

An isolated hill is one that "stands alone" without any surrounding hills. The strategy employed in climbing same will depend upon whether the hill is convex or concave.

Convex Hills.

Climbing any hill takes power and speed, two components that must gradually be increased upon approaching a hill. For a convex hill (one that is steeper at the bottom), the timing and the speed of the ascent must be nearly perfect. As odd as it may sound, the way to accelerate up a convex hill is to shift down. This provides more power for the climb. But timing is everything when using this method. Downshift too soon, and exhaustion will plague the rider even before reaching the hill. Downshift too late, and climbing the hill can be too labor intensive.

Concave Hills.

Concave hills are steeper at the apex and, as such, require a different strategy than do convex hills. Two key factors to this strategy are keeping the speed steady, thus conserving energy, at the start the climb. As the hill becomes steeper, the downshifting should begin.

Another strategy to mountain bike climbing of a concave hill is to stand up on the pedals, which creates a more powerful cycle. When standing, make sure the full body is evenly distributed on both pedals. This will create sufficient power to overcome the hill.

A Few Tips for General Technique

One's pedaling technique is also an important factor in successful mountain bike climbing. The right placement of the feet can have a huge impact on the amount of effort expended while climbing the hill. The feet should be positioned properly and the heel should be kept parallel to the ground. (If the toes are pointed down, the muscular contractions of the leg are minimized which will affect the speed and the stamina of the rider.)

Another point to consider is the cadence of the ride. (Cadence is the number of times that the pedal is rotated, on either side, per minute of cycling.) Aiming for a steady cadence is a healthy goal, whether the surface is flat or is on a hill. Cycling at a cadence of 85 to 105 is an optimum level.

When mountain bike climbing, one's power to climb the hill will be increased at a higher cadence while downshifting to a lower gear. The effort on the pedal, however, should remain the same on both the upstroke and the down stroke. Maintaining the same amount of pressure throughout the whole pedaling cycle will create a more even stroke, which can help to maintain the energy level needed to climb the hill.

The View from the Top

Mountain bike climbing is not for the faint of heart. It takes strength, stamina, and good technique. But with these tips, you should be able to see the view from the top of the hill (or mountain) sooner than your friends!

Hill of Hope

Just about now everyone is confused as to which way the stock market is going to go - up or down. For the past 3 years it has been headed south, but the Wall Street experts have told us that the market never goes down 4 years in a row so this has to be an up year. But no guarantees.

hilleberg akto

The old saying is that the stock market climbs a wall of worry. We watch sharp moves up followed by days, sometimes weeks of weakness and then another shot to higher prices. From 1982 to 2000 this went on until we absolutely, positively knew it was going to continue forever. The current mindset is you can't lose if you just "hang in there". Mr. Average-stockholder has lost about 50% of his money so far and has chewed his fingernails to the nub. Now what?

HILL

I hope you don't need a house to fall on you to realize we are in a long-term bear market, one that could last for years. In a bear market the action is exactly opposite what you see in a bull market - sharp declines followed by slow agonizing rallies that don't quite make it back to the previous high prices. This is called climbing the Hill of Hope. This is a slippery hill to which you will not make it to the top. Hope is the most expensive word in an investor's lexicon.

The smartest (?) analysts (?) and talking heads on TV continue to tell us the market always comes back - if you live long enough. They fail to tell you that every bull market is followed by a bear market of about equal length. This last bull ended after 18 years and if cycles repeat we have 15 more years of the downward path to follow. I know - "this time it is different". Let's hope so, but I don't want to have my money on hope.

The DOW Industrial Index has been down 3 years in a row and only once in history has it gone down 4 times to newer lows. Did you know that the DOW Transportation Index has been down 5 years straight? Can there possibly be a sixth year? Your answer is as good as mine.

There has recently been some liquidation of mutual funds from 401Ks and IRAs, but the amount is small. It has been reported that there is about 3 trillion (with a T) in mutual funds. The talking heads speak of 10 and 20 billion leaving the so-called "safe haven". As a percentage of total assets this is a spit. One of these days not too far in the future (probably this year) investors will suddenly get the idea to head for the door. And they all seem to do it about the same time like lemmings headed over the cliff.

This will look like a major bottom in the market - and it might be if the P/E ratio can get down to around
10 or less. Until it does they will still be trying, unsuccessfully, to climb that Hill of Hope.

One Tree Hill Wedding Speech

If you want to find the most meaningful speech ever written for television, the One Tree Hill wedding speech is one of those speeches that will touch your heart. Sophia Bush as Brooke delivered it on the show. It is the most meaningful wedding speech because it will give you an idea about how love should survive all the odds that can come between a couple.

One Tree Hill Wedding Speech: The Gist
The One Tree Hill wedding speech focuses on how two people join as one to battle all the obstacles that may come their way. Brooke delivered it in such a way that the union reminded her of how powerful love can be against all odds. In addition, she talked about the safety of the relationship that a wedded couple has regarding fidelity and loyalty. She also spoke of the fears that she had when it came to her own relationship. She also said that she might never find a relationship as strong as that of the couple. She quoted Shakespeare's sayings that love does not aim to change the person. It brings out the best in the person despite of his or her imperfections as a human being. It accepts all the shortcomings and helps the people involved to become better on their own terms. The One Tree Hill wedding speech is an inspiring speech because it gives you an idea about how love should really be. However, it does have a sad connotation because of the character delivered it. Perhaps, this is because of the things, which were happening, in her personal life during that time. She was happy for the couple but said these things at the same time because of what was happening to her relationship.

One Tree Hill Wedding Speech: The Deeper Meaning
This speech shows that everything has a reason for existence, and you do not find a person in your life without a reason. People touch you in every possible way when they come into your life. It is a perfect wedding speech because it does not only show the love between two people, but also shows the love between friends and how it affects the people around them. If you can convey this message through your speech, you will be much appreciated by the couple that had invited you to their wedding.

The One Tree Hill wedding speech is the perfect wedding speech because it summarizes everything that the speaker feels about the people involved in the wedding in just a few sentences. This proves that you do not have to think of long speeches to be able to say what you want to say during a wedding.
