Beach Theme Bedroom

Using accessories is a fun way to accent your bedroom for a beach theme. You will find that you can dramatically change the look of your room simply by making small changes with the accents. See how easy it is to get a designer beach theme look in your bedroom without shelling out the big bucks.

If you're not sure exactly what you want in your beach desing, try looking in decorating magazines and books to get a flavor of the accessories you would like to see in your bedroom. For keeping the beach look consistent, you'll have to limit yourself to only purchase the accessories that match your theme.

ROM BEDS

Colors for a beach décor should make you think of the beach. Light and breezy with lots of blues and maybe even some yellows. If you prefer neutral tones think of the beige of beach sand and the color of shells.

Incorporate sea shells, ocean prints, and other seaside accents that will help bring out the beach in your bedroom. You should group your accessories in odd numbers. It always looks nice if your groupings consists of tall and short accessories mixed together. An interesting group of accents might consists of some shells aside a nice beach theme frame and a taller lamp.

Use beach theme prints and photos on your walls to establish the theme throughout your bedroom. Many people do not know how to correctly hang a piece of art and this makes a big difference to the visual appeal. Whether you are hanging a large oil painting or a small print, the middle of the piece should be at eye level. If you have a large piece of artwork you can try using it as a headboard. When hanging prints or photos behind a table, always place them 7 to 10 inches above the table. Hang pictures in circular, triangular, or rectangular geometric groupings to add interest.

When accessorizing your bedroom don't forget about the lighting. When purchasing lamps make sure to buy ones that go with the beach theme you want to create. For beach style lighting try using clear glass lamps filled with shells or figural light house shaped lamps.

Area rugs can define a space and pull your bedroom together. Rest furniture completely on the rug for a warmer effect. Only use rugs that go with your beach accessories.

Using pillows can add interest as well. Use several at the top of the bed and vary the texture colors and patterns while still keeping the color and theme within your overall bedroom design.

Don't think you have to buy everything for your bedroom at once. Shop around to find the perfect accessories to match the beach theme in your bedroom. You can find bargains at consignment stores flea markets and yard sales.

Decorating A Small Attic Bedroom To Have Big Style

Your attic bedroom may be a guest room or one for a member of your family but either way you want to make sure it has great design style, even if the room is quite small. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of decorating a small attic bedroom.

Think about using a decorating theme that you will like, but also one which can help to make your room appear larger. Clutter also makes even the largest of attics feel cramped, thus doing the same to an already small room needs to be avoided.

ROM BEDS

Making good use of the space in your attic room is important so keep this in mind when planning your design theme. You could try going with a minimalist interior decorating scheme as this will make the room look more spacious. No matter what you go with, don't forget to be positive you enjoy it, this should be a cozy, comfortable space.

When decorating a small attic bedroom you might also plan out things such as furniture and accessories placement. If you desire a decorating style that looks great plus enhances your life, consider employing the ideas of Feng Shui when decorating your attic room. Arrange furniture away from your doorways, since you'd be surprised to discover how much straightforward access to and from a room could make it look bigger. This might even also draw attention to a bigger piece such as a big mirror.

Small or medium sized furniture is your best bet when decorating a small attic room. In place of having bureaus, consider using underbed storage which will make the room look bigger while still allowing storage of clothing. It makes sense to add unique charm to your attic room by mixing in particular larger scaled items, so in conjunction with the underbed storage, add into your design a big cheval mirror, they will compliment each other and also add unique appeal to the room.

If you can paint your attic room, then the shades that you choose tend to play a key role in making it look larger. You don't need to purely use white colors when making up for smallness in a room. You should be able to have color while still making the attic room seem less small by choosing colors which have equal brightness, or sticking to a monochromatic decorating theme. You might go subtle with a blue decorating theme, or if you seek more color try blue, purple and green that all reflect an equal tone and intensity. You will additionally add appealing charm and depth to a room if you paint one of the walls an intense, deep hue. To give your walls the impression of receding, and therefore the room appearing bigger try using pale tints. If you think gray will be too oppressing, you can really paint with any cool shade such as blue or purple to achieve the same effect.

These techniques allow decorating a small attic bedroom to be easy and also effortless. Purely because your attic room is cozy doesn't mean it can't acquire the same interesting interior design style you see in designer houses - it basically requires a little creativity and imagination.

Easy Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Decorating your bedroom can be a great way to give your self a tranquil retreat, yet so many people neglect this room. Often times people focus on the public rooms of the home - the kitchen, living room and guest bathroom but the bedroom is your own private sanctuary and you owe yourself to decorate it!

If decorating your bedroom seems like an overwhelming task, you might want to take it easy and make small changes over a period of time instead of one huge change. On way to ease yourself into decorating the bedroom is to start with the walls. Artwork can make a huge difference in the look of your bedroom and is one decorating idea that you can easily reverse if the look doesn't work.

ROM BEDS

What is the first thing you notice when you walk into someone's home? The walls, right? Walls enclose the home, giving a thematic impression. So, if your walls are empty you've got to get to work to populate them. Wall hangings can be expensive, but that's only if you purchase something by a famous dead artist. You can create your own artwork without any art instruction whatsoever. First, you have to consider your theme. If you have a Victorian, feminine or shabby chic bedroom theme then you will want floral or feminine artwork. A modern bedroom theme will look best with prints in sleek frames. A tropical look? Then get some jungle style prints or prints of exotic animals and birds.

Do you have hundreds of pictures and just don't know what to do with them? If the idea of a personalized bedroom picture wall appeals to you, you could arrange the photos into a huge wall photo collage. Examples include pictures of exotic places, weddings, and children growing up. If there is a teenager in your home, their bedroom is probably home to a huge collection of music CDs. They can create their own wall collage using the cover art from their CDs. Although you will have more fun creating your collage yourself, there are companies that will take care of this for you. The cost ranges from about for an 8x10 to 0 for a 20x24 wall collage.

If your bedroom contains foliage, you might want to consider pressing leaves or flowers and framing your work; the best of these are flat. You basically place the leaves or flowers in a book to allow them to dry flat. They are ready for your wall hanging when they become crisp. This shouldn't take longer than a week or two. After the items are pressed, you will just need to mount the artwork and hang it on your wall.

When you decorate your bedroom with artwork you are only limited by your imagination. Don't be afraid to experiment. As mentioned previously, artwork is easily reversible. So, be imaginative and creative and design your artwork.

Decorating Your Teens Bedroom

When your kid gets to be a teenager, that little kids furniture and bedroom décor just won't do. Your teen wants a cool new look, and here's how you can get it.

First of all, don't toss out that old bedroom furniture yet. Unless the furniture is totally banged up and broken, you may be able to give it a cool new look with some paint and new knobs. Before you start on that, however, you need to figure out the theme of your teen bedroom design.

ROM BEDS

Todays hot new looks are centered around retro, modern or "cool" designs. Teens actually have pretty good design sense (probably from watching so much TV!) and you can design a really neat room just by adding some new accents. Of course, your teen may need a new desk to do their home work at if the old one no longer works but you can give the old furniture a new look as mentioned above.

Luckily, you don't have to spend a lot on accents for your teenagers room. Most of the discount department stores like Target offer hip furnishings and accents at discount prices. You can buy inexpensive shelves, or build them yourself, and use it for them to put all their stuff that might normally be thrown on the floor. This will help the room look neat and reduce the clutter.

You can give your teens bedroom a fun but sophisticated look by painting the room in a "cool" color like chocolate, sage or purple and using accents to as focal points. A flokati or rag rug will lend a sophisticated air and you can even put the down as area rugs on top of wall to wall carpeting to give the floor a whole new look. Replace the kids ruffled or theme curtains with tab topped curtains in a denim or canvas for a more adult look.

Bedding for you teen can be plain, or funky - whatever goes with the room. Depending on your teens taste, a neutral colored bed set with nicely textured fabrics like silks or a velvet duvet can add interest with out being too flashy. Or if you want to make the bed a focal point, how about an animal print set or something in bright colors like hot pink and orange?

Accents are where you add interest and give the room personality. Some fun accents include chairs shaped like a giant shoe, faux fur covered lamps in wild colors, bean bag chairs of all types, phones in all shapes and sizes, funky accent pillows, rugs and wall art.

Ideas For Sports Theme Bedrooms - Boys Baseball Bedroom

Sports-themed bedrooms for boys are always a great way to go for the athlete in your family. Here are some great ways to create a baseball theme boys bedroom on a budget.

1) Paint the room a basic beige color to mimic the color of the field. I used Benjamin Moore Deer Path #1047.

ROM BEDS

2) Add a mural on one wall to create an at the stadium feeling in the bedroom. I used this easy-to-install mural for a great effect.

3) Choose a simple painted bed with an open headboard so the mural is easily viewable. For the bedding, you can purchase a sports-themed set, or just get a plain blue quilt, and jazz it up with accessories. Use baseball pillows/sheets/blankets for a more cohesive look.

4) Create a nightstand out of an old locker, or paint an old nightstand bright red and put a baseball knob on the drawers/door. You can also purchase nightstands that look like lockers. You can add a baseball lamp to pull it together.

5) It's easy to re-purpose an existing ceiling fan by painting it red or blue, and applying baseball decals, or you can find a great baseball fan ready to install at Lowes.

6) For window treatments, create a custom valance by using team pennants which you can find on Ebay! String them together with rope and tack them to the wall or string them to a curtain rod. Use plain blue panels for extra privacy.

7) For extra touches, add a baseball rug, baseball knobs to the closet doors, or some framed pictures of their favorite players.

Your boys baseball room is sure to be a hit with all his friends. Take me out to the ball game!

Deciding on the Best Ways to Decorate Your Bedroom

These days a bedroom is much more than just a room where you sleep, it's a multipurpose room and is very personal. You can quite quickly get attached to your room which will make it difficult to change it if you want to. One of the main purposes of this room is still sleeping which means it's a very personal room. Any changes that you make could affect the quality of your night's sleep which can affect many other aspects of your life.

In order for any bedroom interior design project to be successful you need to put a lot of thought into it. This will help you find out any potential problems before you run into them. Even something like moving a bed might not seem like much, however it can potentially alter your sleeping patterns. Once you have decided on the type of thing that you want then you should start planning, you might want to plan several different stages so that you can gradually get used to your new bedroom.

ROM BEDS

Bedroom design can be compared to bathroom interior design, in that you don't actually need to replace everything in the room to get a new look. In the bathroom for example you can simply hang a new shower curtain, and several other fairly small things to make the room look different.

A similar thing is possible with your bedroom, you can get some new sheets, new curtains and even a new comforter. Although these are fairly small things they can make your room look different overall. These changes aren't necessarily interior design changes as they are too small if done individually. These are a great way to make your room look different without spending a fortune.

Choosing colors for the bedroom

When you start to plan your bedroom interior design project you might be tempted to put a new color on the wall, or use colored wallpaper. Adding color may seem like a great idea, however you need to make sure that it is a color which is good for use in a bedroom. You will probably spend the majority of your time in the bedroom. You shouldn't really use bright colors as these could prevent you from sleeping.

Most paint companies produce specific colors and shades for use in the bedroom, as do wallpaper companies. You should have a look at what they suggest for use in a bedroom before you splash any old color on your wall. For example if you paint your room bright vibrant yellow then it might look wonderful, however it can make it difficult to sleep. Also a blood red colored room could cause you to have nightmares. The color is very important and so you need to make sure that you choose carefully.

It's really good to spend time on a bedroom interior design project because it will be the place where you spend most of your time. You just need to make sure that any changes you make are ones that you like and can handle.

Design Your Bedroom Like a Five Star Hotel Room

Just checked into a swanky hotel room and instantly all problems go flying out the window, the mellow tone and luxurious setting make us feel like a million bucks, but why can't we get the same feeling every time we walk into our own bedroom?

Well now you can. Just concentrate on these four areas when decorating your room and you will be well on your way to having your very own five star bedroom!

ROM BEDS

1: Lighting
Decide what you enjoy about staying in a hotel room, is it soft lighting that helps you unwind? Is it bright lights that make you feel fresh? If you want to feel relaxed (most probably) in your bedroom, go for soft lights but plenty of so that not all your light is coming from one spot.

2: Bed
This is probably the most important, and is probably the most expensive thing in a hotel room. Everyone is different so you need to find a bed that you really enjoy sleeping in and will continue to enjoy every night, after all a bed is not just for Christmas. With the current state of the market there are some renown bed makers dropping their prices down to the ground so if you look around you can probably snap up a bargain.

3: Aroma
We couldn't emphasize this enough, when you walk through that hotel room what is the first thing you realize? You probably don't even notice it but its most likely to be the aroma that hits your nose, Hotels spend a fortune to get rooms smelling fresh and new, some Hotels in Dubai apparently have their own unique aroma that help their customers feel relaxed. A regular clean, fresh air and some pot puree should do the trick.

4: Personalize
Personalize your room but don't over do it! After all we still want it to feel like a new experience every time you walk through that door. Canvas art prints can be a great way of personalizing your room without overdoing it. Carefully selected furniture can really do the trick here because it will be endorsed by your personal taste. What you will notice with Hotel rooms is that they do not tend to clutter their rooms with too much furniture or art.

There you are, keep these in the back of your mind whenever you are decorating and you will be on the way to your very own 5* bedroom.

Enjoy!

Great Ideas To Decorate A Boy's Bedroom

It can be difficult to determine a cost effective way to decorate a boy's bedroom when you know that fads and tastes change quickly. When decorating a boy's room, here are some tips that will help you spend your money more wisely. If you switch the décor in the entire room, you will find yourself spending a lot of money that will likely be short lived. With a few wise choices, you can spend less money and afford to change the room around more often.

Because fads change so quickly and what your child likes for their room today may be something they are tired of in a year's time. By choosing a few quick changes that are inexpensive, it can afford you the ability to change decorations and themes more regularly. Children take pride in a bedroom that reflects their taste so will be more likely to keep it tidy when they enjoy spending time there.

ROM BEDS

Choose a neutral paint color and add wallpaper borders or decals. Adding a wallpaper border or decals makes it easy to redecorate your room inexpensively. By choosing a neutral color you can easily spend a minimum amount of money buying reposition able decals and wallpaper borders that can be put around the middle of the room at waist level or at the ceiling. This can allow you to change your child's room around inexpensively and as often as a new fad strikes them with minimal effort required by you.

If your child is a sports fan, NFL lockers are a popular idea. NFL lockers can be bought and this is something that can decorate your child's room from a young age right until they leave for college. An NFL locker can not only hold storage items such as clothing, jerseys and other sports equipment but also can hold books and pictures and display your child's sports related trophies.

The NFL locker can display their favorite team with official logos and colors. The NFL locker is something that generally won't go out of style for your child's room. If your son is a sports enthusiast, he likely will be throughout his childhood. Fads with shorter phases such as cartoon characters or movie themed decorations tend to cost a lot and be out of fashion quickly. Sports themes can last much longer in terms of keeping your son's interest.

When you want to change the room, buying a new bedding set that matches the color or the theme of the room and a similarly colored throw rug for the foot of their bed can be an inexpensive way to match colors. Storage is always a concern for children's rooms that become filled with toys and books and videos so a storage solution is important to help them keep their room organized. Something like the NFL locker helps them keep the room organized and is something durable that is likely to last for years.

The Ultimate Disney Princess Bedroom

Little girls and princesses... since the invention of the fairy tale, they go hand in hand. The magic of Disney has brought great princesses to life: Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The Disney Princess even reigns underwater: The Little Mermaid has brought the beautiful ocean and undersea world to life with the invention of princess Ariel. And while your daughter has the toys, the movies, the books and the accessories... nothing will compete with designing the ultimate Disney princess bedroom for her to lay her pretty little head down in. So let's get started!

Disney Princess room adornments are everywhere, and this is the good news. The bad news is that it can often be overwhelming, so you'll need to decorate smartly. From Disney Princess bedding to wall decor, from curtains and valances to beautiful rugs depicting Cinderella's magic castle... perhaps the most comprehensive and complete collection of Disney Princess bedroom decor can be found at a great website called Kids Decorating Ideas.

ROM BEDS

Wall Color - Begin planning your Disney Princess bedroom with the general wall color. Your main choices are pink and purple. Make sure you go with light pinks and lavenders, as these will open up the room and allow for better options later on when choosing complimentary princess wall decor. You can even work a two-toned effect: pink on top and lavender on the bottom with a thin white stripe or pretty lattice pattern marking the separation. For a fantasy feel, get creative and add wisps of puffy white clouds to the upper portion of the walls. Your daughter's princess bedroom should feel light and delicate right from the start.

Princess Bedding - There are a variety of companies that sell Disney Princess bedding. Choose between quilted comforters or satin/sheen type materials that allow prints to be silk-screened right onto the fabric. Individual princesses are available, so ask your daughter if she has a favorite. Other princess quilts feature several of the more famous princesses together, and these catch-all solutions can be cute as well. Above all else, choose bedding that compliments your wall color and avoid patterns or colors that clash.

Flooring and Area Rugs - Your Disney Princess bedroom should be a soft, luxurious place for your little girl to sleep and play. If you choose to carpet the room, go plush and high. Again you should pick colors that blend nicely with the walls, but you can offset softer colors with a slightly darker color floor for contrast. Whether you choose carpeting or not, you can add Disney Princess area rugs to strategic places in the room such as the foot of the bed. These rugs come featuring the princesses themselves, in silhouettes of Cinderella's castle, glass slipper circular rugs, and other beautiful choices. Find the shape, size, and color rug that fits your daughter's Disney Princess bedroom.

Furniture - While there may not be an abundance of Princess furniture, this is a good place to get away from the Disney theme for a minute. Beautiful scrolling finishes and beveled edges are what you should be looking for when buying a bedroom set. Sleigh beds and day beds and even four-poster canopy beds can all look fit for a princess if ornately yet practically detailed. Whites and off-whites will go nicely in any princess room, and you can even add finishes to certain pieces such as hand-painted scrollwork, tiaras, jeweled details and other royal themes. Remember that the rest of your room will contain many Disney Princess references - including the bedding - so non-themed furniture is not only okay, it's probably for the best.

Lighting - One of the advantages of a Disney Princess bedroom is choosing a beautiful chandelier to hang from the center of the room. Not only does add amazing style and lavishness to the room, it also helps save dresser and nightstand space where you might have used table lamps. Like with your furniture, a Disney made lamp isn't totally necessary. Any type of flowing, leafy, scrolling type chandelier will do. If your little girl loves all things sparkly, look for crystal accents. Check the color and style against the walls, floor, and furniture - find the one that feels just right.

Wall Decor - Now that you've got the majority of the room laid out, it's back to the walls again. There are some amazing Disney Princess wall murals, decals, and vinyl wall stickers that can totally transform your little girl's bedroom into a princess paradise! Use these decals to fill void spaces between furniture, and to create fantastic scenes in your Disney Princess bedroom. Wall borders featuring Disney's most popular princesses come in colorful, delicate, and girly-themed colors and patterns. Self-stick princess room applique sheets can be used to decorate any smooth surface - not only the walls but your lamps and furniture as well. Check out all your options and decide which ones are in keeping with your bedroom's colors and overall theme.

How to Make Your Bedroom a Room of Your Dreams

You spend the majority of your time at home in your bedroom. It is a room dedicated to rejuvenation and renewal. People spend time in their bedroom not just because it is a place to rest at the end of a long day, but because it is a place of comfort and security. Whether you are reading in bed, writing letters, or getting dressed for a night on the town, your bedroom is your most personal space where you can let your guard down.

The most important element of your bedroom is, of course, your bed. Whether you're in it asleep or enjoying other activities, it needs to be the height of comfort. Opinions vary widely about what makes the ultimate bed. Some people prefer a soft mattress while others prefer one that is firm. Some people prefer a bed low to the ground with minimalist design, and others love a bed that is tall and grand with ornate posts and exquisite linens. Whatever your style, do plenty of research on your mattress because this single piece of furniture can have a huge impact on the quality of the rest of your life. A good night's sleep is one of the keys to good health, so choose wisely!

ROM BEDS

Other elements to a great room include adequate storage for clothing. Nothing ruins the aesthetics of a perfectly good bedroom than piles of clothes and shoes lying around. Make sure you have plenty of storage to put your things away, including a spot for laundry, shoes, and toiletries. In some houses closet space is at a premium, so an armoire or bureau that coordinates with your room may be necessary to accommodate your wardrobe.

You may love to watch late night television shows before going to sleep, but a television isn't always the most attractive item and may actually clash with your room if you decorate with classic style and antiques. Consider a cabinet with doors that can be closed when the television isn't in use. This is a great alternative to having your television stick out like an eyesore amidst your fine décor.

Another important element to your bedroom is lighting. You may want to consider a few alternatives to the basic overhead light fixture which is functional but offers little ambience. There are literally hundreds of thousands of gorgeous lamps that can accentuate the décor of your bedroom and coordinate with your bedding or curtains, providing soft and gentle light that will make relaxing in your room much easier. You can also buy a small book light if you are the type who enjoys reading in bed long after your partner is asleep. For a romantic touch, consider candles in a variety of safe and beautiful designs.

Your bedroom décor can be soft and floral-inspired, or modern and sleek, but regardless of what you choose, it should be a reflection of the things you really love. As you settle in to bed each night and look around, your room should give you plenty of reasons to have restful sleep and sweet dreams.

Small Bedroom Design - Make Your Bedroom Look Bigger And More Comfortable

Having a small bedroom should not be a problem when you know how to design and decorate it. Through the right approach, you are going to easily forget that it is small and instead will let you feel not only like it is bigger but more comfortable and relaxing to stay at. It may seem impossible for you, but you can achieve this effect and stop getting guilty that you have it small.

Start by de-cluttering it with mess, meaning you have to toss off things that are not of much use. Replace them with essentials only. Along with that, consider the following ideas to achieve that bigger look as well as comfortable and cozy feel:

ROM BEDS

1. Color

Apply the bedroom with brighter paint colors. It is a way to let natural light getting inside the small room reflected in these colors making your room appear bigger.

2. Mirrors

Putting mirrors in some key areas is a great way for adding dimension to the small bedroom. They enhance space of the room because of the doubled-look effect. Just make sure you don't place a mirror that reflects the part where you don't want it exposed.

3. Beds

Use slim-framed furniture and bed to avoid taking up much of the space. Fold-down beds are great for small bedrooms, as well as bedroom closets. The latter is a type that is provided with built-in shelves, typically just underneath it.

Platform beds are also great choice for small bed. These are basically the kind with the low height, usually with only a foot high above the floor level of the room. The effect is that it actually makes volume and the bedroom looks bigger.

If to use conventional beds, you can have the space underneath by placing storage boxes or shelves. At one side of the bed, you can place a table or chair where you can put your reading lamp. Make sure it matches your bed for more stylish effect.

4. Shelves

Floor-to-ceiling book shelves are also great to store your small items and mementos, and of course, your books. This kind of shelve will not necessitate any more kinds of furniture because you can put virtually all the things in there. The result is saved spaces.

5. Furniture

Small furniture will do in small bedrooms, but arranging all pieces is they key to achieving the space-saving intention while keeping them still fashionable. Place these pieces at angles to help distract visual lines off the walls.

6. Wall paper

This is one of the most important items that you can focus on to achieve the illusion of bigger space. Wallpapers with horizontal patterns create effects of horizontal expansions.

When chosen and applied well, these ideas should work well with your small bedroom to turn it into comfortable and relaxing place to stay at. Bedrooms are designed to be somewhere where one would be staying to rest at nights and one that would be his/her private sanctuary; therefore, small bedroom design should be something that meets personal requirement in the most comfortable atmosphere.

Sometimes you do not come across these mistakes only because the partner you are with is very shy to discuss it with you but it does indeed affect your relationship and overall performance in bed. Read on to find out what these mistakes are and whether you are making them or not.

Not shaving- One of the biggest mistakes most men make is thinking that they do not need to shave their pubes. Most men feel it's only women who need to shave it. The fact is men need to shave it as much as women do and most women often get turned off watching unshaved men. Therefore make it a point to shave even if your partner is shy to discuss this issue with you.

ROM BEDS

Body odour- Some guys do not look into this matter at all and often don't even care what they smell like before getting into bed. Make it a point to check for any sort of body odour before you get into bed with your partner.

Smelly mouth- Another reason why your wife or partner would be reluctant to kiss you tonight. Make it a point to brush your teeth as well before you get into bed with your partner. Remember women want men to be clean as you want them to be clean.

Bringing anger into bedroom- Some guys often get into bed with an angry mood due to the happenings during the day or due to any other problem they might have had throughout the day. This strongly affects your sex life and eventually ends up turning your partner off.

Stand in the middle of the room and hold the compass level and waist-high. Then make a diagram of your room, creating nine squares. Put the correct direction on each square. Now you are ready to move the items according to compass or your personal auspicious directions. (A compass only costs about - at Wal-Mart or Target.)

Give yourself a mini-space clearing

--If you decide to use feng shui in your room, then clear out all unnecessary items and junk from your drawers, closet, and under the bed.

--Clean thoroughly by vacuuming, dusting and washing windows, ceiling fans, etc.

--Now you're ready to feng shui your room, but follow the DON'Ts below:

DON'Ts

Don't have open book shelves opposite your bed or behind you as you study. These act like knives and will encourage people "talking behind your back."

Don't have water or pictures of water (this aggravates asthma, allergies, and can encourage respiratory or sinus problems). So take out the Zen fountain or fish tank.

Don't have plants in the bedroom. Plants use up body energy in your bedroom.

BED DOs and DON'Ts

DO make sure it has the widest view of the room and entryway so you can see the door easily

DO try to sleep with the top of your head pointing in one of your personal feng shui directions (see below)

DO have a solid wall behind it (or at least curtains) vs. a window

DO make sure you cannot see a bathroom, toilet, or stairs from the bed

DON'T have the bed against a shared wall of a bathroom or toilet

DON'T have a mirror or television that reflects the bed

DON'T have your feet point out the door from your bed

Using personal feng shui: Having your head pointed in one of your auspicious directions (AD) is one of the best ways to tap good luck. Click here to calculate your personal feng shui directions. This link will tell you what directions are the best for you. Even if your room is in the Southwest portion of the house and this is not a good direction for you, you can still orient your bed so that your head points in one of your good directions.

DESK DOs and DON'Ts

DO try to place your desk in NE corner of your room

DO always sit where you can see the door and anyone entering the room easily

DO try to face one of your AD

DO keep a bright light turned on here to enhance your education luck

DO hang a lead crystal from the ceiling here, or place rock crystals in this corner of the room and in the NE corner of the desk for better study concentration

DO add a globe to this location to improve test scores and success in school

DRESSER

Place in East corner if wood

Place in West corner if metallic-colored, or if painted white, silver, or gold

Place in North if black or blue

Place in SE if green

Place in South or SW if red, orange, purple

COMPUTER, PHONE, & STEREO

Place phone in the NW corner of room to bring more helpful people into your life.

Keep stereo playing on low volume while you are away to keep energy active in your room and attract helpful people to you.

DECORATIONS, ETC.

Mirrors: Not recommended in the bedroom. If used, make sure you cannot see yourself from the bed.

Lamps: Place one in the south (fame and recognition; a lava lamp is great here!), the NE (educational luck), and the SW (to help you with your sweetie or bring one if you don't have one already -- lava lamps are also great here, too!). The lamps will energize these areas.

Pictures: Make sure are these positive images that make you happy. Violence, dark, or brooding-types of pictures are not suitable for a place of rest and relaxation.

Troubles with mom and dad? Place a happy picture of your family in the East corner of your room to help these relationships become easier and more harmonious.

Looking for a new love? Place a picture of your heart's desire in the SW to help this relationship -- or to encourage a new one relationship, place a picture of your "ideal" person here.

Bulletin boards: Hang these on the south wall of your room. Pin pictures of famous people, letters of recognition, awards, ribbons, or certificates here for more added recognition any kind of accomplishment is perfect for this location.

A light that illuminates this area is especially helpful! Place trophies on a shelf in this location for continued success and recognition. Paint this board red for an extra boost in recognition energy!

Ceiling fans: not recommended because they displace body energy while sleeping; if used, place small red dot on each blade.

Clutter: If you don't feel well or you're having troubles in your life, clear your space. Get a box and do a thorough cleaning out. This doesn't mean you have to throw things away.

Store them in the garage or attic. If after a while you don't use any of these things, then donate them to charity. Do make note of how you feel once your room is clear.

With a harmonious environment, you are sure to be more comfortable, enjoy yourself more, and do better in life. If, you have used any of these tips and found them helpful, I'd like to know about it! I'm always interested in hearing from teens who have benefited from feng shui! Drop me a note here.

Decorating a Toddler Room - Tips for Preparing a Toddler Bedroom

Decorating your toddler's room is a major stage in your child's life. It is kind of the unofficial transition from babyhood to the toddler years. Just as you may have been unsure how to go about decorating your baby's room, you may be unsure of how to proceed with preparing their toddler room for them. Here are some tips:

Choose a bed they will be comfortable with. If you have crib that converts to a toddler bed, you will be able to skip right over this step of the planning process. If you need to purchase a bed for your toddler, consider a few things:
You may want to choose a toddler bed rather than going right into a twin bed. Because toddler beds are smaller, they may feel more safe and secure in one. If you can, let them help you choose their bed. This will make the whole experience more exciting for them and they may be more willing to sleep in the bed right away. If your child moves around a lot too while they are sleeping, consider choosing a toddler bed with high sides or invest in some sturdy bedrails to use on the bed that you do choose.
Decide on a theme or décor for the room. If your child hasn't outgrown the nursery's theme or décor, it may not be necessary to change the room much. If you do want to redecorate, consider letting your child help you make some of the decorating decisions for their new room. This is another way to get them excited and motivated about having a "big kid" room.

ROM BEDS

Remember to child proof the room. Just as you had to baby proof the nursery, you need to child proof your toddler's room:
Make sure cords from blinds and window treatments are secured up high to prevent choking hazards. Try to avoid putting furniture they may climb on in front of windows. Make sure windows are locked so the child can't fall out if they do manage to climb up to it. Put outlet protectors on all unused electrical outlets. Avoid using floor lamps in the room since a toddler can easily knock one over. Put table lamps up high on dressers and use a light bulb that stays cool to the touch in it to prevent burns. Hide cords from lamps, air purifiers, and other electrical items behind furniture if possible. Also use a cord wrapper to secure excess cord. Get down on their level and look for any more potential hazards that may need to be addressed.

By taking safety and your toddler's needs into consideration, you can create a safe and secure toddler room for them that they will enjoy sleeping and spending time playing in.

Girl's Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Girls love bright colorful colors. In decorating your girl's bedroom, make it a habit to use bright colorful colors that would bring out the youthfulness in the theme of the room.

The decoration should also be girlish, that you have the stars, the moon if you are planning on a night time decorative style or perhaps the sunshine, the shoreline, the sandy beach and blue sea if you plan on a beach theme.

ROM BEDS

1. Night Time Theme

If you are planning on a night time theme, it would be best to have all the necessary colors for that theme. Blues, whites, yellows, would definitely be very useful if you intend to decorate the room with this theme.

Ornaments that are for nighttime are also useful; like rotating lamps where you see objects moving as the lamp lights up or perhaps chimes to hang on the ceiling. Girls like the sound of chimes and perhaps it is nice to give your girl one, as a decoration for her room.

Perhaps, you should have her bed with a very cool blue bed sheet and warm yellow pillows that are bright like the moon on her head. Or maybe have a drawing of the half moon on her ceiling or wall. It would depend on the decoration that you intend to put in her room.

You may also make the color of the floors into dark blue and you may play with the lighting to highlight the sights of the room during daytime and especially at night time.

2. Beach Theme

If you plan on decorating it with the beach theme, it is necessary to have the elements of the beach; perhaps, a sandy brown carpet for the floor, a nice bright blue bed sheet for the bed and fluffy white pillows.

You may also want to add a dash of yellow to the theme to send the element of summer. Like maybe putting yellow curtains and ornaments all over the place; and of course decorating it with the beach elements, like corals, starfish, angel fish, clown fish, and maybe even a drawing of a palm tree on the wall.

You may also add the chimes made of different shapes of water creatures for your daughter's amusement.

Small Bedroom Decorating Ideas

If you are looking for ways to decorate a small bedroom, I have good news for you. I am going to show you a different approach to decorate a small room or bedroom.

Many people seem to be guilty that their bedroom is small and they read every bit of information available in libraries and the Internet to make a small bedroom look bigger. Of course it is human nature to look for things that you don't possess right now.

ROM BEDS

Some of the easy techniques of making a small bedroom look bigger are

1) Use bright colored paints so that natural light entering the small bedroom get reflected in all directions and the room looks bigger.

2) Use furniture with slim frames. This is a very obvious solution. Furniture with slim frames have less perceived volume and because of this the room looks bigger.

3) Use a platform bed in a small bedroom. What is a platform bed? A platform bed is the one with low height. The normal height of any bed is around 1foot 6 inches approximately. But a platform bed is only 1 foot high fro the ground level. This makes it's volume and the room looks bigger.

4) Arrange the furniture in your room at angles. Of course this is not always possible. But small pieces of furniture can be arranged in that fashion. This is done to distract the visual lines away from the walls.

5) using a wallpaper with horizontal pattern. This will create an illusion of horizontal expansion.

There are many more simple ideas to go for. However there is one more simple approach to go for this. Instead of spending time in making your room look bigger, why not make it a point that the same room becomes more functional and appealing in the same available space.

I am not saying that making a room look bigger is a waste of time, but it has got certain limitations of it's own. It is a strong possibility that the room, which is being used as a bedroom, was originally designed for something else and then was converted into a bedroom. Small rooms o the other hand can be extremely efficient because it is easy to design furniture in them that will help a human being efficiently to perform specific actions.

I hope this article was helpful.

Girls Bedroom Sets - Fulfilling Your Little Princess' Bedroom Dream

Your little girls' bedroom is a magical place for her. This is where she spends a lot of time, not only sleeping, but also playing. Decorating your girls' bedroom is not that complicated at all. In fact, it could be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for the both of you.

Just like an adult's bedroom, a girls' bedroom doesn't only consist of a bed. She should also have her own furniture in her room. Sometimes, her room would even require more than yours.

ROM BEDS

Her Bed

Canopy beds are great for little girls. Most girls usually dream of being princess, and the canopy style is just perfect for this dream. It can be an elegant and beautiful retreat for her. If you have two girls, a bunk bed would be great for them if you have less space for accommodating two beds.

There are also playhouse beds available in the market. These are cute bunk like beds, only that the lower portion consists of a playhouse. Your girl would definitely love this, especially when engaging with pretend play.

Armoires

She also gets to have her own armoires to put her stuff into. There are different types in the market and all of them have an elegant touch, just fit for your little princess. There are some that even have crystal chandeliers inside or installed lightings. The choices are definitely bountiful; just learn to choose the right one!

Seating

You can also put some chairs in her room. There are sofa sets for girls available, however, if you don't have much space one chair would do. Some girls appeal to rocker chairs. You can also ask if she would rather have a beanbag or one of those inflatable plastic chairs.

You can also get a mini table and chair set for her, so that she can accommodate her visitors for her tea parties, whether it is friends, or her stuff toys. Your girl would probably have her other girl friends for sleepovers and play sessions, that's why it would be nice to provide additional seating for them.

Lighting

The lighting in her room is quite important too. Since most kids are afraid of the dark, having a cute night-light would be the right thing. You can also put ceiling fixtures, such as mini chandeliers, to add to that feminine touch.

The task of decorating your girls' bedroom is not your sole responsibility. Remember that it is 'her' room that you are decorating, so it would be best if both of you do it. Make it a project that both of you can work on, to make the results even memorable and worth it!

Design Ideas For Decorating A Small Teen's Bedroom

For your teenager to have their own special sanctuary, there's nothing like your teens bedroom so it's not a surprise you want it to have top notch decorating style. However when you room is very small, it might be an arduous task to get it to looking fabulous. Thankfully, there are a lot of interior decorating methods you can use to make decorating a small teens bedroom easy!

One thing you should do is be positive to find a room design that makes the most out of tiny spaces. Too much clutter will make your teens bedroom seem tiny so hold off adding a lot of accessories and make sure you have sufficient storage to put stuff away.

ROM BEDS

Another consideration for decorating a small teens bedroom is to be mindful of where the pieces are going to be arranged in the room. You could consider the ideas of Feng Shui when arranging the furniture in your teens bedroom. Easy access into a room can make it look more spacious, so try and keep your furniture away from the doorways. Also, if you do choose a larger piece of furniture, such as a chair or loft bed, for example, it will be able to help to divert guests attention that way hence making the room seem larger in the bargain.

Think of furniture and accessories you could add to your decorating theme which will help to maximize space in the teens bedroom. A modernized design could be ideal, since this tends to highlight space and living area, in lieu of many accessories fighting to occupy the same area. Only be sure you decorate with a decorating theme you can live with as this is an important room for both you and your teen.

Pick the color palette for the teens bedroom wisely since various colors could help make it appear more open. If you always believed that you had to paint your spacially challenged rooms white, then here is some colorful news for you. If you don't want drab paint that is boring, go for having a monochromatic decorating scheme in a beautiful color, or match a few colors which all give off equal intensity. You might go subtle with a blue color palette, or if you wish more color consider brown and pumpkin that all have identical intensity and tone. Painting the wall opposite the entrance a deep hue will cause it to feel further away, thus adding depth to the room. Pale tones will recede, thus making the room feel bigger and blueish gray is a great general hue for a small room. But if that sounds too dull, don't worry as cool colors such as greens, blues and purples also recede so you can have your gorgeous colors without making the room feel smaller.

When it comes to putting furniture in the room, stick to small or medium sized pieces. Using a loft bed with desk underneath, rather than separate bed and desk, might make a lot of difference in space, yet still allow your teen to sleep and do homework. All small scaled pieces could be monotonous and you may want to add interest by using a couple of bigger pieces, so even though you might choose to go with the small bureaus, match it with a large poster or chair, it could also add bit of zip to the room.

These methods allow decorating a small teens bedroom to be easy as well as effortless. Use your imagination and you'll have a small teens bedroom which is big on charm in no time.
