Decorating A Small Attic Bedroom To Have Big Style

Your attic bedroom may be a guest room or one for a member of your family but either way you want to make sure it has great design style, even if the room is quite small. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of decorating a small attic bedroom.

Think about using a decorating theme that you will like, but also one which can help to make your room appear larger. Clutter also makes even the largest of attics feel cramped, thus doing the same to an already small room needs to be avoided.

ROM BEDS

Making good use of the space in your attic room is important so keep this in mind when planning your design theme. You could try going with a minimalist interior decorating scheme as this will make the room look more spacious. No matter what you go with, don't forget to be positive you enjoy it, this should be a cozy, comfortable space.

When decorating a small attic bedroom you might also plan out things such as furniture and accessories placement. If you desire a decorating style that looks great plus enhances your life, consider employing the ideas of Feng Shui when decorating your attic room. Arrange furniture away from your doorways, since you'd be surprised to discover how much straightforward access to and from a room could make it look bigger. This might even also draw attention to a bigger piece such as a big mirror.

Small or medium sized furniture is your best bet when decorating a small attic room. In place of having bureaus, consider using underbed storage which will make the room look bigger while still allowing storage of clothing. It makes sense to add unique charm to your attic room by mixing in particular larger scaled items, so in conjunction with the underbed storage, add into your design a big cheval mirror, they will compliment each other and also add unique appeal to the room.

If you can paint your attic room, then the shades that you choose tend to play a key role in making it look larger. You don't need to purely use white colors when making up for smallness in a room. You should be able to have color while still making the attic room seem less small by choosing colors which have equal brightness, or sticking to a monochromatic decorating theme. You might go subtle with a blue decorating theme, or if you seek more color try blue, purple and green that all reflect an equal tone and intensity. You will additionally add appealing charm and depth to a room if you paint one of the walls an intense, deep hue. To give your walls the impression of receding, and therefore the room appearing bigger try using pale tints. If you think gray will be too oppressing, you can really paint with any cool shade such as blue or purple to achieve the same effect.

These techniques allow decorating a small attic bedroom to be easy and also effortless. Purely because your attic room is cozy doesn't mean it can't acquire the same interesting interior design style you see in designer houses - it basically requires a little creativity and imagination.

Easy Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Decorating your bedroom can be a great way to give your self a tranquil retreat, yet so many people neglect this room. Often times people focus on the public rooms of the home - the kitchen, living room and guest bathroom but the bedroom is your own private sanctuary and you owe yourself to decorate it!

If decorating your bedroom seems like an overwhelming task, you might want to take it easy and make small changes over a period of time instead of one huge change. On way to ease yourself into decorating the bedroom is to start with the walls. Artwork can make a huge difference in the look of your bedroom and is one decorating idea that you can easily reverse if the look doesn't work.

ROM BEDS

What is the first thing you notice when you walk into someone's home? The walls, right? Walls enclose the home, giving a thematic impression. So, if your walls are empty you've got to get to work to populate them. Wall hangings can be expensive, but that's only if you purchase something by a famous dead artist. You can create your own artwork without any art instruction whatsoever. First, you have to consider your theme. If you have a Victorian, feminine or shabby chic bedroom theme then you will want floral or feminine artwork. A modern bedroom theme will look best with prints in sleek frames. A tropical look? Then get some jungle style prints or prints of exotic animals and birds.

Do you have hundreds of pictures and just don't know what to do with them? If the idea of a personalized bedroom picture wall appeals to you, you could arrange the photos into a huge wall photo collage. Examples include pictures of exotic places, weddings, and children growing up. If there is a teenager in your home, their bedroom is probably home to a huge collection of music CDs. They can create their own wall collage using the cover art from their CDs. Although you will have more fun creating your collage yourself, there are companies that will take care of this for you. The cost ranges from about for an 8x10 to 0 for a 20x24 wall collage.

If your bedroom contains foliage, you might want to consider pressing leaves or flowers and framing your work; the best of these are flat. You basically place the leaves or flowers in a book to allow them to dry flat. They are ready for your wall hanging when they become crisp. This shouldn't take longer than a week or two. After the items are pressed, you will just need to mount the artwork and hang it on your wall.

When you decorate your bedroom with artwork you are only limited by your imagination. Don't be afraid to experiment. As mentioned previously, artwork is easily reversible. So, be imaginative and creative and design your artwork.

Cute Ideas on Decorating a Baby Boy's Room

Decorating can be really fun, and you can get as creative as you would like! Decorating a little boy's room is my favorite, maybe because I have a son. Who knows! It can get pricey, but if you look around everywhere before just making a decision, then you will find exactly what you wanted for a better price. It's out there, trust me.

My first idea is decorating a room like a rain forest. Paint the room like a rain forest. Just find a picture you love, and show the painter. Or if you can paint, do it yourself! Put actual plants in the room. It gives out oxygen, and looks cool, especially with a rain forest theme. Put a rope made of fake leaves hanging from one wall to the other with a stuffed monkey attached to it. That is just an idea of one of the many things you could come up with. Maybe even pick a bed that looks like tree bark? You could also hang a pretty sun in the corner with a light bulb behind it, and use it as a lamp at night. That would be really neat!

ROM BEDS

Another idea is Winnie the Pooh. Most kids love him! Who wouldn't love a cuddly little bear with a sweet voice. As for painting, you can choose whatever you may, or paint all the characters on the wall, or Pooh getting honey, or all of the characters dancing or playing. Make a bee hive that holds the diapers. That is my favorite idea! You could also hang little fake bees around it. Get creative!

My third idea is the ocean. This is the most broad idea. The colors are also very peaceful and classy-looking. Make the bed a boat. Paint pretty reefs on the wall with pretty fish. Make everything out of some kind of fish in the ocean. Like the diaper holder, make a blowfish or an anchor. You could even put a real fish tank in his room with real fish! Just make sure it is really high up so that he can not get a hold of it, and make sure it is sturdy, so he can not knock it over.

There are so many different ideas for decorating a little boy's room. These are just some of my favorite. Get creative, take your time, draw it out first, shop online, and shop at different places. Think about what you can make, so that that is less money to spend. Here are a couple sites that may help.

Decorating Your Teenagers Room

If you have a teenage child you have a special designing challenge. You have to be careful not to make the room too childish but you also do not want it too stuffy and adult. If you are up to this challenge you should read this article which will give you some tips on decorating for a teen.

Teenagers spend the majority of their time at home in their rooms so why not make it a nice place to be. To make it more comfortable you should first and foremost make the use of all the space. Try to design in shelving and bins for storage so that they have more open space. An organized room is a more functional room especially if it is tight in the first place. Another tip is to think about the use of a loft or bunk bed style bed. It will raise the bed and allow room underneath for a desk or even a small sofa. This will give more function to the room making it more than just a place to sleep. My last tip is to think about using contrasting colors on the walls. This will add some depth and interest to the room. It could make your small room look much bigger.

Hopefully this decorating article has been of some assistance to you. If you need more advice, consider calling a local interior designer. You would be surprised how affordable hiring a designer can be. Good luck on your design project.

Decorating Your Teens Bedroom

When your kid gets to be a teenager, that little kids furniture and bedroom décor just won't do. Your teen wants a cool new look, and here's how you can get it.

First of all, don't toss out that old bedroom furniture yet. Unless the furniture is totally banged up and broken, you may be able to give it a cool new look with some paint and new knobs. Before you start on that, however, you need to figure out the theme of your teen bedroom design.

ROM BEDS

Todays hot new looks are centered around retro, modern or "cool" designs. Teens actually have pretty good design sense (probably from watching so much TV!) and you can design a really neat room just by adding some new accents. Of course, your teen may need a new desk to do their home work at if the old one no longer works but you can give the old furniture a new look as mentioned above.

Luckily, you don't have to spend a lot on accents for your teenagers room. Most of the discount department stores like Target offer hip furnishings and accents at discount prices. You can buy inexpensive shelves, or build them yourself, and use it for them to put all their stuff that might normally be thrown on the floor. This will help the room look neat and reduce the clutter.

You can give your teens bedroom a fun but sophisticated look by painting the room in a "cool" color like chocolate, sage or purple and using accents to as focal points. A flokati or rag rug will lend a sophisticated air and you can even put the down as area rugs on top of wall to wall carpeting to give the floor a whole new look. Replace the kids ruffled or theme curtains with tab topped curtains in a denim or canvas for a more adult look.

Bedding for you teen can be plain, or funky - whatever goes with the room. Depending on your teens taste, a neutral colored bed set with nicely textured fabrics like silks or a velvet duvet can add interest with out being too flashy. Or if you want to make the bed a focal point, how about an animal print set or something in bright colors like hot pink and orange?

Accents are where you add interest and give the room personality. Some fun accents include chairs shaped like a giant shoe, faux fur covered lamps in wild colors, bean bag chairs of all types, phones in all shapes and sizes, funky accent pillows, rugs and wall art.

Decorating a Toddler Room - Tips for Preparing a Toddler Bedroom

Decorating your toddler's room is a major stage in your child's life. It is kind of the unofficial transition from babyhood to the toddler years. Just as you may have been unsure how to go about decorating your baby's room, you may be unsure of how to proceed with preparing their toddler room for them. Here are some tips:

Choose a bed they will be comfortable with. If you have crib that converts to a toddler bed, you will be able to skip right over this step of the planning process. If you need to purchase a bed for your toddler, consider a few things:
You may want to choose a toddler bed rather than going right into a twin bed. Because toddler beds are smaller, they may feel more safe and secure in one. If you can, let them help you choose their bed. This will make the whole experience more exciting for them and they may be more willing to sleep in the bed right away. If your child moves around a lot too while they are sleeping, consider choosing a toddler bed with high sides or invest in some sturdy bedrails to use on the bed that you do choose.
Decide on a theme or décor for the room. If your child hasn't outgrown the nursery's theme or décor, it may not be necessary to change the room much. If you do want to redecorate, consider letting your child help you make some of the decorating decisions for their new room. This is another way to get them excited and motivated about having a "big kid" room.

ROM BEDS

Remember to child proof the room. Just as you had to baby proof the nursery, you need to child proof your toddler's room:
Make sure cords from blinds and window treatments are secured up high to prevent choking hazards. Try to avoid putting furniture they may climb on in front of windows. Make sure windows are locked so the child can't fall out if they do manage to climb up to it. Put outlet protectors on all unused electrical outlets. Avoid using floor lamps in the room since a toddler can easily knock one over. Put table lamps up high on dressers and use a light bulb that stays cool to the touch in it to prevent burns. Hide cords from lamps, air purifiers, and other electrical items behind furniture if possible. Also use a cord wrapper to secure excess cord. Get down on their level and look for any more potential hazards that may need to be addressed.

By taking safety and your toddler's needs into consideration, you can create a safe and secure toddler room for them that they will enjoy sleeping and spending time playing in.

Girl's Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Girls love bright colorful colors. In decorating your girl's bedroom, make it a habit to use bright colorful colors that would bring out the youthfulness in the theme of the room.

The decoration should also be girlish, that you have the stars, the moon if you are planning on a night time decorative style or perhaps the sunshine, the shoreline, the sandy beach and blue sea if you plan on a beach theme.

ROM BEDS

1. Night Time Theme

If you are planning on a night time theme, it would be best to have all the necessary colors for that theme. Blues, whites, yellows, would definitely be very useful if you intend to decorate the room with this theme.

Ornaments that are for nighttime are also useful; like rotating lamps where you see objects moving as the lamp lights up or perhaps chimes to hang on the ceiling. Girls like the sound of chimes and perhaps it is nice to give your girl one, as a decoration for her room.

Perhaps, you should have her bed with a very cool blue bed sheet and warm yellow pillows that are bright like the moon on her head. Or maybe have a drawing of the half moon on her ceiling or wall. It would depend on the decoration that you intend to put in her room.

You may also make the color of the floors into dark blue and you may play with the lighting to highlight the sights of the room during daytime and especially at night time.

2. Beach Theme

If you plan on decorating it with the beach theme, it is necessary to have the elements of the beach; perhaps, a sandy brown carpet for the floor, a nice bright blue bed sheet for the bed and fluffy white pillows.

You may also want to add a dash of yellow to the theme to send the element of summer. Like maybe putting yellow curtains and ornaments all over the place; and of course decorating it with the beach elements, like corals, starfish, angel fish, clown fish, and maybe even a drawing of a palm tree on the wall.

You may also add the chimes made of different shapes of water creatures for your daughter's amusement.

Small Bedroom Decorating Ideas

If you are looking for ways to decorate a small bedroom, I have good news for you. I am going to show you a different approach to decorate a small room or bedroom.

Many people seem to be guilty that their bedroom is small and they read every bit of information available in libraries and the Internet to make a small bedroom look bigger. Of course it is human nature to look for things that you don't possess right now.

ROM BEDS

Some of the easy techniques of making a small bedroom look bigger are

1) Use bright colored paints so that natural light entering the small bedroom get reflected in all directions and the room looks bigger.

2) Use furniture with slim frames. This is a very obvious solution. Furniture with slim frames have less perceived volume and because of this the room looks bigger.

3) Use a platform bed in a small bedroom. What is a platform bed? A platform bed is the one with low height. The normal height of any bed is around 1foot 6 inches approximately. But a platform bed is only 1 foot high fro the ground level. This makes it's volume and the room looks bigger.

4) Arrange the furniture in your room at angles. Of course this is not always possible. But small pieces of furniture can be arranged in that fashion. This is done to distract the visual lines away from the walls.

5) using a wallpaper with horizontal pattern. This will create an illusion of horizontal expansion.

There are many more simple ideas to go for. However there is one more simple approach to go for this. Instead of spending time in making your room look bigger, why not make it a point that the same room becomes more functional and appealing in the same available space.

I am not saying that making a room look bigger is a waste of time, but it has got certain limitations of it's own. It is a strong possibility that the room, which is being used as a bedroom, was originally designed for something else and then was converted into a bedroom. Small rooms o the other hand can be extremely efficient because it is easy to design furniture in them that will help a human being efficiently to perform specific actions.

I hope this article was helpful.

Design Ideas For Decorating A Small Teen's Bedroom

For your teenager to have their own special sanctuary, there's nothing like your teens bedroom so it's not a surprise you want it to have top notch decorating style. However when you room is very small, it might be an arduous task to get it to looking fabulous. Thankfully, there are a lot of interior decorating methods you can use to make decorating a small teens bedroom easy!

One thing you should do is be positive to find a room design that makes the most out of tiny spaces. Too much clutter will make your teens bedroom seem tiny so hold off adding a lot of accessories and make sure you have sufficient storage to put stuff away.

ROM BEDS

Another consideration for decorating a small teens bedroom is to be mindful of where the pieces are going to be arranged in the room. You could consider the ideas of Feng Shui when arranging the furniture in your teens bedroom. Easy access into a room can make it look more spacious, so try and keep your furniture away from the doorways. Also, if you do choose a larger piece of furniture, such as a chair or loft bed, for example, it will be able to help to divert guests attention that way hence making the room seem larger in the bargain.

Think of furniture and accessories you could add to your decorating theme which will help to maximize space in the teens bedroom. A modernized design could be ideal, since this tends to highlight space and living area, in lieu of many accessories fighting to occupy the same area. Only be sure you decorate with a decorating theme you can live with as this is an important room for both you and your teen.

Pick the color palette for the teens bedroom wisely since various colors could help make it appear more open. If you always believed that you had to paint your spacially challenged rooms white, then here is some colorful news for you. If you don't want drab paint that is boring, go for having a monochromatic decorating scheme in a beautiful color, or match a few colors which all give off equal intensity. You might go subtle with a blue color palette, or if you wish more color consider brown and pumpkin that all have identical intensity and tone. Painting the wall opposite the entrance a deep hue will cause it to feel further away, thus adding depth to the room. Pale tones will recede, thus making the room feel bigger and blueish gray is a great general hue for a small room. But if that sounds too dull, don't worry as cool colors such as greens, blues and purples also recede so you can have your gorgeous colors without making the room feel smaller.

When it comes to putting furniture in the room, stick to small or medium sized pieces. Using a loft bed with desk underneath, rather than separate bed and desk, might make a lot of difference in space, yet still allow your teen to sleep and do homework. All small scaled pieces could be monotonous and you may want to add interest by using a couple of bigger pieces, so even though you might choose to go with the small bureaus, match it with a large poster or chair, it could also add bit of zip to the room.

These methods allow decorating a small teens bedroom to be easy as well as effortless. Use your imagination and you'll have a small teens bedroom which is big on charm in no time.
