Home automation, also referred to as "domotics", refers to the construction, actuation and/or application of automated systems of the home, all geared at maximizing and enhancing the comfort, security and convenience of an individual home user.

These systems touch on such areas of the home as security, multimedia, robotics, lighting, inter-communication systems, etc. The systems are basically remote controlled and self - activating, where the idea is to minimize on human control or interaction and maintenance of the ideal home environment as programmed into these systems.

Practical application of some of these home automation systems may, for example, include in such areas as automatic control of room temperature and lighting, detection of fire, water and/or gas leaks, automatic switching on and off of home entertainment systems, intruder (burglar) detection systems and robotic application systems where robots get to perform manual home tasks such as cleaning around, running petty (physical) errands around the house, etc. Not so common applications may include plant watering, pet feeding, pool heating and face recognition systems.

These home automation systems detect very minute changes to the surroundings by use of radio or infrared technology and warn the homeowner of possible intrusions. These systems can also be set up to turn on at certain times of the day and night automatically.

A common application today is in intercom technology. A user interacts with the system via a microphone and a speaker. Some advanced systems can recognize individual voices and act accordingly, based on how they have been programmed. These systems have proven to be very secure and effective in keeping away intruders.

Home automation systems however, like any other comfort appliances or systems, may have their down or negative sides. For example, some of these technologies employed in their construction may have harmful ray emissions such as laser beams, radio waves, etc. These home comforts have also led to reduced human contact resulting in anti-social behavior.

Home automation is about comfort, convenience and security. This comfort and security comes with a heavy price to pay. Installation and maintenance of some automated systems is very expensive. These costs are invariably high and therefore out of reach to most people.

However, it is expected that as more people come to appreciate technology and its convenience in people's daily lives and as individual incomes continue to rise, home automation will be a more common feature of many homes worldwide. Napoleon Hill is often read and quoted by those interested in the Law of Attraction, and most of his ideas are exactly in sync with this principle.

"become magnetized with the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds.... These magnets attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts."

This is the first principle described by Napoleon Hill.

And, all his principles are exactly in accord with the other great teachers of the Law of Attraction and my own experience. He is more famous for this quotation:

I absolutely agree with Hill on these points. It is in his execution, or steps that I find disagreement.

What are Napoleon Hill's Recommended Steps?

Fix in your mind the exact amount of money desired. Be definite. We are reminded that open mindedness is key and belief is necessary. Hope will not produce results. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for that money. (There is no such thing in reality as "something for nothing.") This gift might be time or work, but we cannot just sit home on the couch in exchange for the money. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money desired. Create a plan and begin at once. Action is called for! Write out your plan. A clear concise statement of the amount of dollars, the time frame for the acquisition, and state that which you will give in return. Describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it. Read your written statement twice daily. As you read, see, feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.

Do you see the problem? It's that the subconscious sends a message to the higher mind to work in partnership with Source/Creator/Divinity and there is no time outside of space/time. Our subconscious reads "future" as, "not now" and that will never change.

To manifest wealth or abundance in any area, you have to do it NOW!. Your higher mind does not have any limitations as to time. It can work opportunities and circumstances into your past just as easily as you can work right now.

This is something that Mike Dooley tries to explain but it is very difficult for us to take in. -- How can the past be changed from what it was?

All is possible if you have faith. In Ho'oponopono, or Charles Haanel and Dr. Amidi, we hear about the translation of conscious desire due to emotional impetus. This translation is done by the unconscious, and subsequently transmitted as a wish or prayer to the Creative Source, or Infinite Intelligence, or God the Father. Napoleon Hill does not say anything about creativity moving directly from the consciousness. All writers who deal in specifics explain the process as moving from conscious desire to the unconscious and only then to the Creative Source, or Infinite Intelligence.

But as with all who work from inspiration, sometimes our egoic minds get in the way.

Problems with the Ego

The Ego lives in time, and the Ego lives more in the past and the future than in the present. The Ego loves strategy which is not be the primary mode for acquisition in the 4th Dimension. Why? Because there is no future; there is only the NOW.

Whatever you love to do, do it NOW. Do it not because it will make you rich in the future, but do it because you love doing it and this will put you in the vibration of wealth. Doing what you love gets you out of the Ego into your higher mind. Do it fearlessly!

How do we correct the process above? Do 1, 2 and 6. Skip the rest unless you do them for the fun of it. But, leave the "how" to the Universe.

Commonly known as the Talking Mynah, the Greater India Hill Mynah is one of 10 subspecies of G. religiosa, and is considered the northern subspecies. The Greater India Hill Mynah is an extremely vocal bird and is renowned for its ability to imitate. Along with the Java Hill Myna (G. religiosa religiosa) they are the most commonly captured and imported of the Hill Mynahs for the pet trade. Described by many as the best talking bird in the world, Hill Mynahs can choose to imitate any human voice and speak in high or low tones.

Physical Description:

The Greater India Hill Mynah averages 27 cm in length but can reach up to 35 cm. It is much larger in size than the Lesser Hill Mynahs. It has glossy black feathers which turn purple-blue when exposed to the sunshine. The wings show a white band and there is obvious yellow skin behind and below the eyes. The eye and nape patches are connected, which distinguishes it from the other subspecies. The bill is orange with a yellow tip. The feet and legs are also yellow. Males and females are similar. Juveniles also resemble adults, except their coats are dull and may have a ragged appearance before their first molt.

Diet:

The diet consists of fruits, berries and seeds of various shrubs and trees. They are also known to eat insects and small lizards.

Habitat:

The Greater India Hill Mynah inhabits north India, China, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and the northern through central part of Thailand. They prefer areas of high rainfall and humidity and spend most of their lives in trees. They are known for inhabiting dense jungles near the forest edge, although they are now commonly found on tea and coffee plantations with many flowering shade trees. While not breeding large flocks accumulate, but couples are obvious.

Reproduction:

The Greater India Hill Mynah nests in small tree holes usually located at the forest edge. Several pairs may nest in the same tree without territorial aggression. The monogamous pair searches together for the nesting site. Both sexes fill the hole with twigs, leaves, and feathers. Females instigate copulation by stretching horizontally and flapping their tails up and down quickly. The average clutch is 2 eggs which are blue with brown spots. Incubation lasts 13-17 days and the majority is done by the female. Parents will feed the nestlings together and they will leave them unattended when searching for food. The young fledge after a month and the pair will begin a new clutch. Hill mynas average 2-3 clutches per year, with the most occurring in warmer climates. Breeding is between April and July, although it does vary slightly by region.

Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site preserves the antebellum home of South Carolina governor William H. Gist. Whilst they may produce a variety of high quality products such as coffee, vegetables, fruits and handicrafts they often lack the knowledge and technology to effectively market and sell their products themselves, and therefore have to rely on middle-men.

A key reason why the Royal Project/ National Committee for hill tribes was set up was to tackle the problem of deforestation - an issue which still remains today. Their traditional practices of swidden farming mean that they will clear land in order to grow new crops leading to deforestation and deterioration of highland watersheds.

During March and April every year wide scale forest burning goes on where hill tribes burn land in order to clear it and replenish the soil. The smoke and smog from forest fires is a severe pollution problem, and air quality during this time is very bad. Overuse of pesticides is another problem that causes health problems for them, and lowland Thais that buy and consume their crops.

Keep in mind that it is not honorable by worldly standards to be a prophet. Prophets speak God's mind to people who usually don't want to hear it, so their presence is oftentimes not welcome. Prophets are not perfect, not without sin and, since they speak God's Spirit-based truth, they needn't be particularly eloquent or intellectually savvy either. As with every other area of God's kingdom, He uses unexpected people to convey His spiritual realities.

Religious experts would like to think that prophets possess a super-spiritual glow while they make lots of dramatic gestures as in Michelangelo's paintings. But that is much too impractical. Prophetic people, as well as anyone else God uses, are regular people, intended by God to fill a practical, spiritual purpose.

With Hill's first album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, she communicated a variety of spiritual truth by a means that people could understand: Music. This is prophetic. One particular track, "To Zion," illustrates a powerful parallel between her own potentially "inconvenient" pregnancy and the pregnancy of Mary with Jesus, which was certainly inconvenient. According to the song, this pregnancy could not have helped Hill's career, but she kept the baby anyway and named him "Zion." Zion embodies salvation and hope in the minds of Jewish people, who are God's people. Hill trusted God with her pregnancy and God worked out her circumstances for something greater than she previously imagined. Mary trusted God and He worked it out for the salvation of the whole world.

Other songs on Hill's Miseducation album touch on godly themes as well, especially the last track, which quoted First Corinthians chapter 13 almost word for word.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill sold millions and millions and won her like hundred Grammies (or at least more than anyone else had ever gotten at one time). In other words, whether or not people absorbed any spiritual truth, they certainly had ample opportunity. This is also prophetic. God oftentimes makes prophetic truth widely available, though discernable to only a few.

After this major success, at a time when people were expecting Hill to bask in the sunlight of her fame and fortune, she made an unexpected departure from the public arena. The same Truth she had been trying so hard to express led her to rethink a few things.

A few years later Hill made an appearance on MTV's Unplugged, a show/recording session where artists come to play mostly acoustic versions of their songs. In this case Hill brought about two new CDs worth of songs, all the material God had been revealing to her for the last few years. The double-disc recording of the event (the same version that sold at least a million copies) offers both songs as well as her mid-song monologues, where she talks extensively about God. At the beginning of the performance she speaks in spiritual generalities until the end when she talks more blatantly about spiritual realities than I would have ever expected to hear on MTV. So, here again, Hill used the means she had available to her to convey spiritual truth.

Later Lauryn Hill recorded the track, "Selah," which is the name of another of her children. The chorus of the song explains that "Selah" means "praise and meditation," which sums up her relationship to God at that time. This is also prophetic. Throughout the Bible people name their children according to whatever God is doing or going to do, in particular the prophets (Hosea and Isaiah).

The word "Selah" is scattered throughout many of the biblical Psalms to separate one stanza, or stream of thought, from another. Interestingly, Hill's song closely resembles both the structure and spirit of the Psalms. In this new Psalm she weaves truth, experience and revelation together into a God-honoring masterpiece. God orchestrated a convergence of life-development in just the right moment to bring this about. That particular song made its appearance through a major motion picture and its subsequent soundtrack. Again, Hill used her influence as a mainstream artist to convey spiritual truth.

Back in 2003, at the height of the Catholic church's pedophile scandal/cover-up, Hill accepted an invitation to perform at the Vatican. After setting up on stage, she took the opportunity to publicly rebuke Catholic church-leaders for ruining people's lives and then trying to cover up the fact. She called them out on their destructive behavior in front of thousands of stunned onlookers and then went on to finish her performance. It made sense to her to speak the truth. Meanwhile a more politically-minded Vatican spokesman dismissed her actions as "in bad taste." She expressed plain truth to a group of stubborn religious leaders in a way they could not ignore. This is also prophetic.

According to a new report out of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Tanning beds / Sunbeds cancer danger is equal to that of cigarettes and asbestos.

Where once it was "probable", the risk today is rated more seriously - the agency is now calling for these devices to be labeled "carcinogenic to humans". Those who use them risk becoming bronzed, healthy looking cancer patients

This comes after a review of research conducted by experts from nine countries that found the risk of melanoma was increased 75% in those who routinely used tanning beds before the age of 30.

Melanoma of the eye has also been linked to the use of these devices. Melanoma is the second most common cancer in twenty-something females, this according to the America Melanoma Foundation.

Experts have noticed a rise in melanoma diagnosis, especially for young women, over the last few years.

A National Institute of Health study found that melanoma rates among young women in the US, nearly tripled from 1973 to 2004. Research conducted over the last 10 years offers lots of evidence that tanning beds, as well as direct sun exposure, have played their part in this dramatic increase.

"The use of tanning beds can be deleterious to your health and we hope to encourage governments to formulate restrictions and regulations for the use of tanning beds," said report coauthor Beatrice Secretan, from the Cancer Monograph Working Group at the IARC, the cancer arm of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Estimates from the WHO suggest that perhaps as many as 60,000 people worldwide die from too much sun each year, with most of this number comes from malignant skin cancers.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the U.S. and tanning beds are commonly used by many, especially the young.

"This new report confirms and extends the prior recommendation of the American Cancer Society that the use of tanning beds is dangerous to your health, and should be avoided," agrees U.S. expert Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, deputy chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society.

Many doctors see the latest report as confirmation of what they've long believed - overexposure to tanning beds is just as dangerous as sunbathing in natural sunlight.

The report appears in the August 2009 issue of The Lancet Oncology and also confirms that ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB) and ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation cause cancer in animals.

This is important as the tanning bed industry has long claimed that the beds are safe because of the type of radiation they offer - more UVA than UVB. This new report tells us that all three types are dangerous.

As for the tanning bed industry, the International Tanning Association (ITA) representing indoor tanning manufacturers and others in the billion a year industry, acknowledge that the UV exposure you get from a tanning bed isn't discernibly different from what you get from the sun.

The ITA is quick to point out that even natural sun exposure has been given the carcinogenic classification since 1992, sharing this category with salted fish, red wine and beer.

Moving forward, the WHO will work to restrict the use of tanning beds by those under 18. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates labeling of the devices while the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates the advertising claims made by tanning beds.

Salons are required to tell customers to wear protective goggles over their eyes, and there are warnings on aging, skin cancer and eye injury.

Since 2007 the FDA has been considering making those warnings stronger, though experts would like to see laws that restrict tanning bed use by minors and a black box warning to users.

In the meantime if you choose to take a trip to the tanning salon, at least you'll know more about the risk you're taking.

If you still want the bronzed, glowing look, consider UV-free spray tanning as an option that can give you the look rather than the using a tanning bed and exposing yourself to these sunbed related cancer risks.

You can reach the wineries by taking three different exits off of highway 50. The first exit traveling east on highway 50 is the Schnell School exit in Placerville. This takes you to the west end of Carson Road where you will find Boeger Winery. Fenton Herriott Vineyards is also near by. The Carson Road exit is next, but can be very busy in the fall during the peek of the apple season. This exit takes you to five different tasting rooms on Carson Road including Jodar Vineyards and Coulson Winery. The last exit, the Cedar Grove exit, is at the east end of Carson Road near Primus Vineyards.

Boeger Winery features the award wining Estate Zinfandel and Barbera wines. The original tasting room, built in 1872 from stones cleared to plant the vineyards, is still standing. Boeger has beautiful grounds complete with a pond. If you continue up Carson road heading east, you will come to Union Ridge Road on your left. After turning left on to Union Ridge Road you will see Hassler Road on the right. A little ways down Hassler Road is Fruitridge Road, where if you turn left it will take you to Lava Cap Winery. Lava Cap is known for its rich and elegant wines such as Petite Sirah, red Bordeaux varietals, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. They have a large tasting room and an outside deck that has nice views of the vineyards.

Further up on Hassler Road you will come to North Canyon Road. Make a left and Stones Throw Vineyards is there at the corner of Hidden Valley Lane and North Canyon Road. The Apple Pantry Farm is right next store, so you can have some apple pie or cider before or after wine tasting. Stones Throw offers a "family friendly" winery where the wines are hand crafted in the old world style. The winery offers a variety of wines from Port, Muscat, Zinfandel, Syrah and Merlot to apple wine. Just up Hidden Valley Lane, you will come to Wofford Acres Vineyards. Wofford specializes in white and red wines. Their motto is "Come for the wine and stay for the view". The winery does have spectacular views of rolling hills covered with pine trees. The picnic table area is a great place to have a picnic while relaxing and enjoying the view.

Visiting the Apple Hill wineries is a relaxing trip in the pine covered foothills of the Sierra Mountains. The wineries are about a forty five minute from Sacramento and well worth the trip.
