GPS Charts for Your Marine GPS

Garmin makes a complete array of maps for your marine GPS called BlueChart. Marine maps, just like road maps are continually updated with new information so to stay up to date you should refresh your maps every couple of years.

Garmin's BlueChart g2 includes detailed 3D representations of views above and below the waterline. With 3D you can get a good idea of dimensions from all angles so it's easier to see elevations of rocks, coastline buildings, light houses and so on. Along with the standard maps that you are used to from Garmin, you can upgrade your marine GPS to include real aerial shots of areas of interest. Using modern satellite imagery as well as overflight photos taken by aircraft, you can now see true-to-life details for unsurpassed navigational accuracy. Photography is constantly updated as more and more areas are covered or updated.

ROM BEDS

BlueChart g2 maps are available on memory cards which you slip into the SD card slot on your marine GPS. With touchscreen control you can flip back and forth between views under the water or views of the coastline. Underwater views reveal features such as rocks and reefs and the contours of the sea or lake bed. Set waypoints as reminders of obstacles on routes you are likely to come back to. Above the waterline, set your GPS to autoguide and avoid buoys, navigate harbors or plot yourself a route along a favorite coastline strategically designed to arrive at a quaint restaurant in time for dinner. BlueChart g2 marine GPS maps come complete with thousands of points of interests; local hotels and restaurants, known wrecks and reefs, marinas, and times of tides and sunrise/sunsets.

A Marine GPS BlueChart for Every Destination

Whether you are boating on a local lake or planning an exotic boating trip overseas, Garmin makes a BlueChart map for every body of water known to man. Here's an idea of what to look for:

BlueChart Americas: North and South America BlueChart Oceania: Asia BlueChart Pacific: Europe and Africa BlueChart Inland Lakes: America's Freshwater Lakes

Marine GPS BlueChart Formats

The easiest way to buy maps is on an SD memory card which you simply insert into your marine GPS device. You can also buy the maps on CD-ROM or on a USB data card for uploading to your computer and then transferring to your marine GPS. You do this by inserting a blank memory card into your GPS and then connecting up the computer and initiating a transfer (like copying data from your PC to a CD). You may be able to copy it directly to the memory on the device. This format is handy if you want to upload the maps to more than one GPS-enabled device. It also allows you to manipulate the data directly on the PC (handy for going indoors and plotting routes). The PC is also a good back up for waypoints and routes that you wish to save or transfer from one marine GPS to another.

Your particular marine GPS device may or may not have special constraints or requirements so to avoid frustration, check your user's manual and look on the Garmin website to ensure compatibility. You can then look forward to many happy marine adventures.

Fabric Chair Covers - Add a Beautiful Look

Fabric chair covers are becoming a new rage for designers. They can add a beautiful new look to any room or office. The fabric can allow for the original look to be retained and renewed or the fabric can be something new and vibrant. When choosing a cover it is important the look and feel of the cover is natural and well-fitting. There is a special blend that the fabric must take on so that it maintains the structure of the chair it is being used on.

If a cover is ill-fitting it can lead to a multitude of problems such as uneven lines and sagging around the bottom of the chair. Many people take on the resurfacing of chairs by reupholstering the whole thing. This method can get quite expensive. What people do not know is that the same look can be accomplished using fabric chair covers at a fraction of the cost!

ROM BEDS

An important thing to remember when purchasing chair covers is the functionality of the chair itself. The chair needs to be in good sitting condition overall for the chair cover to work properly. However if your chairs are in need of a facelift and are structurally sound then purchasing a cover is the best way to get a new lease on life for those chairs.

The options for covering a chair are endless. The fabrics, colours and designs are almost unending. Just take a look in one of the extensive catalogs that you can find and you will see that the answers to your design problems are just a simple chair cover purchase away.

Once you have picked out the fabric, texture, colour and design of your cover you can move on to making sure that the covers will fit your budget and more importantly your chair! Fabric chair covers can be tailored to your specific needs and this may cost a bit more but for the right look you should be willing to go this route.

When deciding where to purchase your chair covers there are basically two options: a retailer or an independent shop. The independent shops can cost a little more but the tailored work is custom and you get what you pay for. However, the retailer can provide a beautiful look at a cheaper price and just like purchasing anything else you need to decide what your budget is before diving headfirst into it.

Chairs that have faded over time are in need of a chair cover. These chairs are often times great for sitting but can become an eyesore if left unattended. Rather than purchasing new chairs or getting the older chair reupholstered you can purchase a cover and bring those chairs back to life quickly. Fabric chair covers are now becoming a favourite amongst designers as they have many great qualities:

-- Affordable
-- Beautiful and Elegant
-- Can Be Fitted
-- Can Be Customized To Match Any Scenery
-- Quick (only takes a few minutes)
-- With A Multitude Of Options

Often time's chairs are covered at the same time making an ordinary room look extraordinary. The pricing of doing something like this is a lot less expensive then trying to purchase all new furniture and having it put in place. For a fraction of the cost a whole room can be changed and no moving is necessary. At this point the only choices to make are what kind of covers are you looking for and how do you want them to fit? Custom fitted fabric chair covers are beautiful and can last for years to come.

Chromcraft Furniture

Tilt-swivel sets with casters are getting harder to find. For those who want to be comfortable while they eat at the kitchen table, you may have a hard time finding a new set. The days of walking in to your full-line furniture store and seeing caster dinette sets lined up are gone. There are a few specialty retailers who still carry this niche product. Sadly, many of the factories who made the tilt-swivel dinettes have closed up shop. You can, however, still buy Chromcraft dinettes on casters, although it won't be the exact same as they made years ago.

Chromcraft has a downside though; they take a long time to ship the product. Many special orders take 16 weeks or more. If you can't wait that long, you may need to look for the tilt-swivel set in stock or look for a different brand. There are other manufactures who make caster kitchen sets like Tobias Designs and Douglas Casual Living. Douglas is a bit of a confusing subject. There was a Douglas who sold tilt-swivel sets for many years, then went out of business a few years back. A new company now uses the Douglas name, but has a different product in the same category.

ROM BEDS

All this to say, you will have a hard time finding a caster set that tilts and swivels, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Shop around, make calls, and be patient if it's a special order... especially if you are buying one by Chromcraft.

Retirement Humor - Jokes That Aren't Over the Hill!

When it comes to retirement humor, jokes tend to focus on few themes. Senior citizen jokes usually have a punch line that hitches on the changes of an aging body or mind, or on the loss or depletion of skills or functions related to those changes. These jokes are pretty universal, since, if we are lucky, we live to become a senior citizen. If the topic is retirement humor, jokes often hit on the sudden freedom that retirement brings - including its possible downfalls. While many of these jokes focus on going from work to a supposed state of leisure, others highlight possible hyperactivity or conflicts with a spouse due to suddenly spending so much time together.

It's the fact that we can relate to a situation about retirement or aging that will make a joke funny. But just because the themes are familiar, the joke itself doesn't have to be. Here are some funny quotes and some jokes to enjoy for yourself and to try on your friends and family.

"Wow. Then what's the good news?"

"You won't remember this tomorrow."

Small Bedroom Design - Make Your Bedroom Look Bigger And More Comfortable

Having a small bedroom should not be a problem when you know how to design and decorate it. Through the right approach, you are going to easily forget that it is small and instead will let you feel not only like it is bigger but more comfortable and relaxing to stay at. It may seem impossible for you, but you can achieve this effect and stop getting guilty that you have it small.

Start by de-cluttering it with mess, meaning you have to toss off things that are not of much use. Replace them with essentials only. Along with that, consider the following ideas to achieve that bigger look as well as comfortable and cozy feel:

ROM BEDS

1. Color

Apply the bedroom with brighter paint colors. It is a way to let natural light getting inside the small room reflected in these colors making your room appear bigger.

2. Mirrors

Putting mirrors in some key areas is a great way for adding dimension to the small bedroom. They enhance space of the room because of the doubled-look effect. Just make sure you don't place a mirror that reflects the part where you don't want it exposed.

3. Beds

Use slim-framed furniture and bed to avoid taking up much of the space. Fold-down beds are great for small bedrooms, as well as bedroom closets. The latter is a type that is provided with built-in shelves, typically just underneath it.

Platform beds are also great choice for small bed. These are basically the kind with the low height, usually with only a foot high above the floor level of the room. The effect is that it actually makes volume and the bedroom looks bigger.

If to use conventional beds, you can have the space underneath by placing storage boxes or shelves. At one side of the bed, you can place a table or chair where you can put your reading lamp. Make sure it matches your bed for more stylish effect.

4. Shelves

Floor-to-ceiling book shelves are also great to store your small items and mementos, and of course, your books. This kind of shelve will not necessitate any more kinds of furniture because you can put virtually all the things in there. The result is saved spaces.

5. Furniture

Small furniture will do in small bedrooms, but arranging all pieces is they key to achieving the space-saving intention while keeping them still fashionable. Place these pieces at angles to help distract visual lines off the walls.

6. Wall paper

This is one of the most important items that you can focus on to achieve the illusion of bigger space. Wallpapers with horizontal patterns create effects of horizontal expansions.

When chosen and applied well, these ideas should work well with your small bedroom to turn it into comfortable and relaxing place to stay at. Bedrooms are designed to be somewhere where one would be staying to rest at nights and one that would be his/her private sanctuary; therefore, small bedroom design should be something that meets personal requirement in the most comfortable atmosphere.
